Bardon Clichy Master Wall Clock Konigsberg Germany Seal 1923 Pendulum Battery
HistoryVery little made it thru the WWII attacks on Konigsberg, Germany. First the shelling from the Royal Air Force inn August of 1944 and then by Soviet shelling in April of 1945. This one of a kind, Master Bardon clock, with a Konigsberg Seewarte seal somehow survived. Whether it was sheltered in the underground German bunkers or in the partial remains of the Konigsberg Observatory it did survive. The Observatory, a semi-circular two story research and observation facility with a brick vault (considered a regional architectural monument) is related to the clock via the Seewarte engraving on the clock seal."Seewarte" loosely translates as Naval Observatory or Oceanic Observatory or it could also be referring to the Atlantic Meteor voyage which mapped the ocean floor with the first sonic equipment and included the Konigsberg area in 1925-1927. The seal on this clock is also engraved Conigsberg, as it was first spelled for a period following the locations inception in 1843 as a mere Prussian settlement called Twangste.A piece of history from a location rich in history. Hitler had envisioned Konigsberg as a museum for everything the Germans had found in Russia Following the end of WWII and the Potsdam Agreement, Konigsberg, Germany became part of the Soviet Union (now Russia) and has remained so ever since. The Soviet Union renamed Konigsberg to Koliningrad. Today Konigsberg is of world interest as a Russian held area that is separated from the rest of Russia by two NATO countries. The situation with Ukraine makes this Russian held area of interest. Russia is most likely where this clock was purchased.Otto Pratje worked at the Konigsberg University with his chief study the geology of sea beds and he participated in the Meteor Atlantic expedition 1925-1926 eminating from Konigsberg. In 1937 he was appointed to establish and direct marine geological section of the Deutshe Seewarte at Hamburg. Both seafaring ventures produced official topographic and administrative maps of Germanys waters. Many dead underwater volcano's rising 1000 ft high in the ocean were identified for the first time with their 1st generation sonar equipment.Clock MechanicsThis Bardon Master clock appears to be one of a kind. Back is marble. Hangs at 52-1/2" long and 12" wide and 7 " deep. This is a battery run master clock with pendulum. Most likely from the Observatory in Koliningrad Konigsberg per the Seewarte seal on the front. Clocks by Bardon, Brillie and Vaucanson all embody similar principles. The coil is in the base. Extremely rare. Made in Clichy, France. Located at Etablissments bardon at the Societe Anonyme de Construction Electrique et Mechanique during the production years 1920-1925. Bardon hanging battery electromagnetic clock with oak case Bardon, Clichy. Charles Edouard GuillaumeThe Nobel Prize in Physics 1920 Precise measurement plays an important role in science. To provide a basis for precise measurements, the metric system and a German legal meter were instituted to define lengths. However, different materials expand differently when temperatures change, which limits the ability to make very precise measurements. In 1896 Charles-Edouard Guillaume succeeded in finding an alloy of nickel and steel that registered almost no change in length and volume as a result of temperature changes. The invar nickel-steel alloy had a significant effect on scientific instruments and incandescent light bulbs and was used in this clock. If you need this item shipped, that would be undertaken on your end. Your shipper would need to pack item and pick it up. If you are willing to make those arrangements it is an option for shipping. (Condition: Pre-Owned)

Superb Antique French Cloisonne Champleve Crystal Regulator Clock 19th Century
Superb and Rare Antique French 19th Century Cloisonne Champleve Crystal Regulator Clock, in Flawless, Fully Working Condition Fantastic, rare, very ornate clock in flawless condition. The incredibly ornate dial is beyond superb, so is highly detailed cloisonne and cloisonne hand painted pendulum is a work of art all in itself. French cloisonne is highly valued by collectors. I see no damage of any kind anywhere. The movement is clean, strikes perfectly and runs well. It is an 8-day movement, striking hours on the hour and once on half hour. I will include a key. Pictures speak for themselves, but do let me know if you have any additional questions. The clock measures 12.75" (32cm) high. Like all pendulum based clocks (and especially so for crystal regulators), the pendulum has to be properly balanced after shipping for the clock to run. Another high end crystal regulator clock was sold by me on eBay about a year ago. After shipping it to UK, it got stuck in customs and, with no explanation whatsoever, after a month, was shipped back to me. Unfortunately, because of this, I will no longer mail expensive clocks to UK using U.S. Mail. If you are in UK, please contact me first, as I may have to ship it using a different and more expensive service.I am not doing any business, buying or selling, with anyone residing in Russia until Russia withdraws from Ukraine, no exceptions.I am not a clock dealer - I am a clock collector and a member of NAWCC. I currently have more than 200 clocks and I keep buying more, so I have to sell some. I would be selling many more if I had the time to list them...Je parle le français un peu. Antique French Very Ornate Gilded Ormolu Dore Bronze Porcelain Clock Garniture
Very Ornate French 19th Century Bronze and Porcelain Clock Garniture, Candelabra are also decorated with cut crystal brilliants, with a Balance Escapement Striking Movement, in Fully Working Condition Very ornate and colorful set, very similar to the clock owned by the unfortunate French queen Marie Antoinette, who was executed by the French Revolution. The last photo shows the actual Marie Antoinette clock, now in a museum. Outside of the usual (and very minor) bronze tarnish, I see no damage anywhere. The movement is fully functional (but could use a good cleaning), with a balance escapement (so, unlike a pendulum based clock, does not need to be carefully balanced to put it in beat). I will include a key as well. Pictures speak for themselves, but do let me know if you have any additional questions. The clock measures approximately 18" high, candelabras are around 17" high. No international shipping on this set, it is too large.I am not doing any business, buying or selling, with anyone residing in Russia until Russia withdraws from Ukraine, no exceptions.I am not a clock dealer - I am a clock collector and a member of NAWCC. 1857 Gerhard Mandtler Restored Weight Driven 1 Handed Wall Clock Handmade Gears
This unique one-handed clock was made by Gerhard Mandtler son of Clockmaker Jacob Mandtler has been professionally restored. Gerhard was born in Prussia in 1821 and died in 1904. This Mandtler family was from the Mennonite colony located in Lindenau, Molotschna Colony in Prussia. These clocks are identified by the markings on a gear, identifying the maker and the year of manufacture. All gears on these clocks were hand made. The clock faces were not made by Gerhard Mandtler, they were hand painted in nearby village Lichtenau. These clocks were an important part of the Mennonite material culture. Mennonite parents often commissioned clocks as wedding gifts. The clock being offered is thought to be one of those wedding clocks. Due to political pressures the Mandtler family moved to Russia (now Ukraine) in 1855. Mandtler's son by the same name Gerhard Mandtler 1855-1930 was the last clockmaker of this family. Mandtler clocks ceased production around the Russian Civil War (1917-1922). There were several Mennonite families building clock during this period, Kroeger, Lepp, Hamm, Hildebrand and the Mandtler families. There are at this time more Kroeger clocks that have survived than any other. These clocks were very important to these people. Whenever they migrated the clock was almost sure to go with them. Looking at this clock one might assume it was from a large case grandfathers' clock or something similar. The museum for these Mennonite is located in Canada where several dozens of these clocks are on display, none have cabinets. What you see is the clock, the whole clock as it was used in the era, it never had a case. Movement is mounted on finished oak base for easy hanging. Researching Mennonite Clocks gives a whole new outlook on these amazing timepieces. Although these clocks were made with one hand and two hands the two-handed versions seemed to have had a better survival rate. Everything on this clock is in great condition. It has been serviced by a clock smith and received any care it required. Measurement on face is approx. 20 3/8" tall X 14" wide and weighs 7 lb. The pendulum is 39" long and 5 3/8 across and weighs 1 lb. 13 oz. The weights measure 11 1/2" and weighs slightly over 5 lb. and 6" and weighs 5 1/2 oz. This clock requires approx. 7 ft of vertical wall space. It is mounted on the oak board for hanging and movement protection purposes but can be hung easily without board. The clock smith is in the opinion this clock is authentic with all original pieces and parts. This is truly a great 166-year-old clock with an interesting history. This clock will be shipped in two separate boxes. Please check photos as they are a large part of description. Any questions, please contact me. Thanks for taking a look. (Condition: Refurbished)

Two models of this clock were produced: a limited run of white Bakelite clocks was followed by a more substantial run of black Bakelite replicas. The one presented here is from the initial production. This clock marks Noguchi's first industrial design for commercial manufacture. This clock is an excellent example of industrial design in bakelite, an early form of plastic, by a major twentieth century artist. Noguchi continued to design objects for domestic use and over the course of thirty years produced a number of successful pieces, including lighting, tables, stools, chair. According to the Noguchi Foundation, this timer was Noguchi's first mass-produced design, completed ca. 1932. It predates his design for the "Radio Nurse" baby monitor by about five years. Case has some very minor tarnish, quite clean for a clock of this age. Escapement is original, high quality lever balance type. Front glass has tiny nick in its left bottom corner, barely noticeable, other glasses seem perfect. Rare & Superb Antique French Gilded Bronze & Wood Lyre Swinger Mystery Clock
French 19th Century Gilded Bronze and Black Wood Lyre Mystery Swinger Clock with a Striking Movement, in Fully Working Condition An uncommon mystery swinger clock. The pendulum sits above the movement and seems to swing without any impulse. This mystery is fairly simple - pendulum crutch extends upwards, engaging the pendulum's rod that sticks out of the bob. Still a very neat clock, in excellent condition, especially considering its age. Bronze casting is fine and ornate. The movement is fully functional and fairly clean. It is missing a small decoration medallion on top left, minute hand has a small repair, otherwise the clock is superb. As with any pendulum based clock, it will need to be properly balanced after shipping (or any moving for that matter). The crutch is pressure fitted onto the verge's rod and can be adjusted. If you are not experienced in this, you will need to invite someone to help you balance it at your house. I can also advise in emails. I will include a key. Pictures speak for themselves but do let me know if you have any additional questions. The clock measures approximately 20.5" high. I will consider international shipping on individual case basis.I am listing a similar type clock in blue porcelain as well and I have multiple specimens remaining in my collection.I am not doing any business, buying or selling, with anyone residing in Russia until Russia withdraws from Ukraine, no exceptions. This clock, like any other pendulum based clock, has to be put in-beat when setting it up after shipping, otherwise it may not run. Antique French Gilded, Limoges or Sevres Porcelain Plaques, Dial Clock
Very Ornate French 19th Century Gilded Clock with Limoges or Sevres Hand Painted Porcelain Panels and Dial with a Signed and Medaled Striking Movement, in Fully Working Condition Very ornate and colorful clock. The finely painted porcelain panels and dial are beautiful. The movement is fully functional (but could use a good cleaning), marked with an 1855 Vincenti medal, also signed by the US importer Taylor and Son, Bristol. Bell and pendulum were removed to take a better picture of the movement, but both are included. I will include a key as well. Left bottom panel is a replacement (looks great), all others are original and undamaged. Clock sits on its original wooden/gesso plinth that has some very expected wear, but, given its age, looks quite good. Most of such clocks lost their plinths years ago. Pictures speak for themselves, but do let me know if you have any additional questions. The clock measures approximately 15" high when on its plinth, 13.5" high when by itself. Antique Huge Heavy French Bronze Cathedral Clock 19th Century Vincenti Works
Heavy, Large and Impressive French 19th Century Bronze Clock with Ornate Dial and a Striking Vincenti Movement, in Fully Working Condition Great, very large and impressive bronze clock. The movement is fully functional, stamped with a Vincenti medal but should get a thorough professional cleaning. Ornate dial is superb. I bought this clock years ago and at that time it was missing the rear right foot and one small laurel decoration in the back. I had replacements made, they look great, shown in the last two photos. Also, when I bought it, it was fitted with a modern quartz movement. I consider it almost a crime to do that to such a fine antique clock, so I fitted it with a correct period Vincenti French movement. Looks incredibly impressive! Bell and pendulum were removed to take a better picture of the movement, but both are included. I will include a key as well. Pictures speak for themselves but do let me know if you have any additional questions. The clock measures approximately 27" high, 16.5" wide and 8" deep. It is heavy and large, no international shipping on this one. Antique French Gilded Bronze & White Carrara Marble Clock Figural Three Cherubs
French 19th Century Gilded Bronze and White Carrara Marble Clock with a Striking Movement, in Fully Working Condition Great, ornate figural clock in fully working condition. The movement is fully functional but could use a good cleaning, signed by F. Pelisier. Porcelain dial with hand painted numerals has a small chip around the regulation hole and a faint hairline on the left side, from 7 to 9:30. I believe that the front bezel glass is a replacement, as such clocks normally had beveled glass. Cherubs have some holes, these are original casting holes, see the last photo. Bell and pendulum were removed to take a better picture of the movement, but both are included. I will include a key as well. Pictures speak for themselves, but do let me know if you have any additional questions. The clock measures approximately 19.75" high and 7.5" wide, it is fairly heavy. Pictures speak for themselves, but do let me know if you have any additional questions. The clock measures approximately 16" high.I am not doing any business, buying or selling, with anyone residing in Russia until Russia withdraws from Ukraine, no exceptions. This clock, like any other pendulum based clock, has to be put in-beat when setting it up after shipping, otherwise it may not run. There are many videos on line showing how to do this and I am happy to help with advice as well.I am not a clock dealer - I am a clock collector and a member of NAWCC. I currently have more than 200 clocks and I keep buying more, so I have to sell some. I would be selling many more if I had the time to list them...Je parle le français un peu. Si vous êtes français je vous encourage à me parler le français. Please note that I will not ship to an address that is different from the one listed by eBay or PayPal unless the winning bidder can really prove to me that the address is legitimate. My prefered shipping for this is FedEx Home Delivery - UPS has been very bad at handling packages lately. Please note that FedEx shipments require destination's phone number, if eBay does not have yours and you are concerned about releasing it to me, we can find an alternate method of shipping. Antique Huge Heavy French Bronze Cathedral Clock 19th Century Japy Freres Works
Heavy, Large and Impressive French 19th Century Bronze Clock with Ornate Dial and a Striking Japy Freres Movement, in Fully Working Condition Great, very large and impressive bronze clock. The movement is fully functional, stamped with a Japy Freres medal but should get a thorough professional cleaning. Ornate dial is superb. The rear door is missing its glass and front bezel glass is a replacement, with some edge scrapes. This clock should have a convex beveled glass there, there are shops that can make a proper replacement. If interested, there is a lively discussion on recommended (and not recommended) glass shops on NAWCC forum, featuring yours truly. Just search on boris clock glass. The ornament around the movement is most likely a replacement, antique and proper, but its design is slightly off and it fits a bit weird. Looks great though. Bell and pendulum were removed to take a better picture of the movement, but both are included. I will include a key as well. Pictures speak for themselves but do let me know if you have any additional questions. The clock measures approximately 27.5" high, 16.5" wide and 12" deep. It is heavy and large, no international shipping on this one. No reserve, highest bid gets it.I am not doing any business, buying or selling, with anyone residing in Russia until Russia withdraws from Ukraine, no exceptions. This clock, like any other pendulum based clock, has to be put in-beat when setting it up after shipping, otherwise it may not run.
