Extremely Rare Astronomical Regulator- 1876 Centennial Gold Medal Winner
Fantastic and enormous astronomical regular built by the German firm Gustov Becker and exhibited at the 1876 Centennials Exhibition where it won a gold medal. The clock was bought by prominent Philidelphia jeweler Samuel Kind, the first U.S. jeweler to sell diamonds. Massive movement and a 20 inch dial.S.KIND & CO. was founded by Samuel Kind in Philadelphia in 1872. Having escaped war torn Europe as a Jewish immigrant just a decade earlier, he had a vision for a new life that began to take shape with the opening of his own store. He became the first purveyor of diamonds in America, cultivating a higher end jewelry buying experience that previously would have only been available in Europe. Through his keen eye and business acumen, he built a jewelry house that would span over a century and became part of the fabric of Philadelphia Samual no doubt saw this magnificent clock at the 1876 Centennial held in Philidelphia, one of approximately twelve Astronomical Regulators made for the Exhibition by the firm of Gustav Becker then the largest clock producer in GermanyA cleaver marketing tool by Gustov Becker was the two sunken subdials which would be very labor intensive to make however this allowed for two further sunken plates for the perspective buyers to put their bussiness name on thus not looking out of place !This was the largest of the clocks produced with a 20" dial and enormous movement and bracket. And it begs to wonder if this was built into the wall of S. Kind Jewelers or perhaps a enormous floor standing clock as our example from Fontains Auctionsfrom a description of a floor standing Gustav Becker Astronomical Regulator clock sold by Fontains AuctionsGustav Becker Astronomical Floor Regulator. Large 16 in. silvered bronze astronomical dial with sweep minutes, 5.5 in. inset sub hour dial above 5.5 in. sub seconds dial, quality blued hands and gilt bronze bezel. Quality brass 8 day weight driven time only movement is signed on the rear plate ?Gustav Becker, Freiburg i/S? (in Schlesien) with ?GB? and crown over anchor mark, front and rear plates are numbered 118702; movement has deadbeat escapement with jeweled pallets, cable barrel exposed on the rear plate, maintaining power, large brass covered weight with quality 4 spoke pulley, long steel pendulum rod with 2 glass jar mercurial compensating pendulum, silvered beat indicator and beat adjustment on the pendulum rod. Exceptional Renaissance Revival carved walnut floor standing case with ebonized highlights has a pierced carved crest with filigree, seashell, turned and carved finials, raised burled panels below, long turned and tapered pendant side pieces with carved florets and incised spandrels in the upper door; the body door has a convex arch at the top under a carved drapery sash and the base has a 1 door compartment. Clock is in excellent condition, case is clean and original finish with no breaks or repairs, 2 top finials are replacements, dial has some wear to the silvering, movement is in running condition. Extremely rare and assumed to be a one of a kind piece, the carved case is of the highest grade and the movement is fine quality. Using the dates for both serial number (1875-1880) and the maker's mark (1852-1877) we were able to determine that this clock was manufactured c.1875-1877, which indicates that it is likely that this clock was manufactured in 1875 for display in the 1876 Centennial International Exhibition held in Philadelphia any617 questions please834 feel free to ask9354 and i will gladly clocks from the 1876 Centennial Exhibition are exceedingly rare and coupled with one of the most famous Philadelphia jewelers make this clock in this condition truly a piece of American History (Condition: Refurbished)

Bardon Clichy Master Wall Clock Konigsberg Germany Seal 1923 Pendulum Battery
HistoryVery little made it thru the WWII attacks on Konigsberg, Germany. First the shelling from the Royal Air Force inn August of 1944 and then by Soviet shelling in April of 1945. This one of a kind, Master Bardon clock, with a Konigsberg Seewarte seal somehow survived. Whether it was sheltered in the underground German bunkers or in the partial remains of the Konigsberg Observatory it did survive. The Observatory, a semi-circular two story research and observation facility with a brick vault (considered a regional architectural monument) is related to the clock via the Seewarte engraving on the clock seal."Seewarte" loosely translates as Naval Observatory or Oceanic Observatory or it could also be referring to the Atlantic Meteor voyage which mapped the ocean floor with the first sonic equipment and included the Konigsberg area in 1925-1927. The seal on this clock is also engraved Conigsberg, as it was first spelled for a period following the locations inception in 1843 as a mere Prussian settlement called Twangste.A piece of history from a location rich in history. Hitler had envisioned Konigsberg as a museum for everything the Germans had found in Russia Following the end of WWII and the Potsdam Agreement, Konigsberg, Germany became part of the Soviet Union (now Russia) and has remained so ever since. The Soviet Union renamed Konigsberg to Koliningrad. Today Konigsberg is of world interest as a Russian held area that is separated from the rest of Russia by two NATO countries. The situation with Ukraine makes this Russian held area of interest. Russia is most likely where this clock was purchased.Otto Pratje worked at the Konigsberg University with his chief study the geology of sea beds and he participated in the Meteor Atlantic expedition 1925-1926 eminating from Konigsberg. In 1937 he was appointed to establish and direct marine geological section of the Deutshe Seewarte at Hamburg. Both seafaring ventures produced official topographic and administrative maps of Germanys waters. Many dead underwater volcano's rising 1000 ft high in the ocean were identified for the first time with their 1st generation sonar equipment.Clock MechanicsThis Bardon Master clock appears to be one of a kind. Back is marble. Hangs at 52-1/2" long and 12" wide and 7 " deep. This is a battery run master clock with pendulum. Most likely from the Observatory in Koliningrad Konigsberg per the Seewarte seal on the front. Clocks by Bardon, Brillie and Vaucanson all embody similar principles. The coil is in the base. Extremely rare. Made in Clichy, France. Located at Etablissments bardon at the Societe Anonyme de Construction Electrique et Mechanique during the production years 1920-1925. Bardon hanging battery electromagnetic clock with oak case Bardon, Clichy. Charles Edouard GuillaumeThe Nobel Prize in Physics 1920 Precise measurement plays an important role in science. To provide a basis for precise measurements, the metric system and a German legal meter were instituted to define lengths. However, different materials expand differently when temperatures change, which limits the ability to make very precise measurements. In 1896 Charles-Edouard Guillaume succeeded in finding an alloy of nickel and steel that registered almost no change in length and volume as a result of temperature changes. The invar nickel-steel alloy had a significant effect on scientific instruments and incandescent light bulbs and was used in this clock. If you need this item shipped, that would be undertaken on your end. Your shipper would need to pack item and pick it up. If you are willing to make those arrangements it is an option for shipping. (Condition: Pre-Owned)

Antique Gilded Bronze Ormolu Inlaid Westminster Chiming Grandfather Clock
This is a stunning example of French Bronze Ormolu, and cabinet marquetry. The original version of this clock was made in the 18th century for the King of France and is located in the Louvre in Paris. This is a 20th century version of this famous clock, presumably expertly crafted by hand in Italy. The other clocks on eBay have a black and red Boulle finish for the case, but this one is brown with light beige marquetry and is more consistent with the original found in the Louvre. I have had it for over ten years and have had the clock movement serviced. It keeps good time and chimes properly. The gilded bronze bears the name Barbedienne, as shown in the photos. I can send a video of the clock as it chimes if desired. It has beautiful Westminster chimes. It is key wound, and the time is set by moving the hands manually. It is in excellent condition overall. It measures about 85” in height. Buyer must arrange for shipping. It must be carefully moved and is fragile. Link below shows the original clock in the Louvre. This clock is almost identical. https: collections louvre fr en ark: 53355 cl010112671 (Condition: Pre-Owned)

19th Century Tiffany and Co Grandfather 9 tube clock Walter Durfee
This exquisite Tiffany & Co (Walter Durfee?) Grandfather 9 tube clock from the 19th century is a timeless piece of art that will add a touch of elegance to any room. Crafted with the finest mahogany or perhaps oak not entirely certain, this antique clock boasts a stunning brown color that exudes sophistication and class. Its tube shape and longcase design make it a unique and impressive addition to any clock collection. This clock has been meticulously crafted, showcasing the expertise of its maker and the quality of the materials used. With its classic design and timeless appeal, it is sure to be a conversation starter and a treasured addition to any home. There are Walter Durfee stamps on the tubes but I have found no other markings. But the photos of the mechanism are consistent with other Walter Durfee cloocks on the internet.Walter Durfee was an American clockmaker who is known for his contribution to the development of the modern grandfather clock. He was born on March 23, 1857, in Providence, Rhode Island 1. Durfee started his business by selling antiques and later began to purchase tall case clocks, which we now call grandfather clocks 1. He claimed to have bought and sold over 400 tall case clocks in his first 8 years in business 1. By mid-1880, Durfee decided to purchase new English bracket clocks and resell them in his antique shop in Providence, Rhode Island 1. It was from this venture that Walter Durfee met the fine quality clock manufacturer in London of Jennens and Sons 1. Jennens and Sons sold their clocks directly to the public but also through leading jewelry stores in London, Liverpool, Edinburgh, Glasgow, New York, and Boston 1. Durfee made an arrangement with JJ Elliott Ltd. to build a 3 weight clock with quarter-hour chime and hour strike on the “new” tubular chimes. In 1887, Walter Durfee received his first 9 tube grandfather clock. He sold it for $500 1. By 1890, Walter Durfee had created a true ‘fad’ for the high-end ‘hall clocks’. Everyone who had the money wanted one of his 9 tube chiming clocks This clock belonged to my wife's grandmother and I have included a handwritten note from her. She was Ruth Baker and she the sister of James A Baker, former secretary of state of the US. She inherited the clock from her father James Addison Baker Senior son of James Addison. Regardless it is a very impressive clock and I have enjoyed having it in our house as a center piece in our formal entry. It is beautifully hand carved in Mahogany and from my research appears to be one of a kind. The clock is nearly 100 inches tall or approximately 8 feet tall. THE CLOCK IS NOT WORKING. But is very similar to this other EBAY listing at $14,000:EBAY item # 296099406072 I had it looked at for repair of the cable but they were not able to complete the repair at our house so we are on a waiting list and have decided to sell as is. One of the photos attached shows an estimate for complete overhaul of the clock for $2,645 plus tax. The clock's case is in excellent condition but missing the finials. I added some more pictures of the movement. They indicated the clock is from the late 1800s. May be a Walter Durfee clock as noted in notes from my mother in law. If anyone has suggestions for confirming please let me know. The clock company representative it could sell for approximately $25K if fully refurbished. Clock is being SOLD AS IS. NO RETURNS. Will send more pictures to anyone seriously interested.Due to scams we have heard about where buyers claim they never received the correct item even when tracking is provided the buyer will need to arrange for the clock to be picked up at our house after we have ensured payment. Payment may be made at the time of pick up or by wire. We are willing to provide whatever reassurances the buyer requires as we are not scammers. Open to discussion in order to ensure both parties are protected. (Condition: Pre-Owned)

Chelsea "The Mariner" Ship's Bell Clock Ltd Ed on Wood Base Running & Striking
eBay Chelsea "The Mariner" Ship's Bell Clock w/ Mahogany Base Limited Edition 6" Clock Face - Running & Striking Ltd Ed Repro of the 1911 Yacht Wheel Clock Item Description Beautiful Vintage Chelsea Ship's Bell Clock, the Mariner model, here for your buying consideration. Would make a great gift for a special occasion, or keep it for yourself! The pictures do not do justice to the size of this piece, it stands 17.5" tall.Nice looking marine/nautical clock here. Made by the Chelsea Clock Company in the USA. "The Mariner" model is one of the most sought out Ship's Bell clocks made by Chelsea. This is a limited edition release of this model by Chelsea. Would guess from design that the clock was made sometime in the ??? (still researching). This offering by Chelsea was only a 500 limited edition run, so very rare to find one outside of Chelsea or a fine jeweler. this clock is number 65 of 500.The original this model is based upon was first issued by Chelsea in 1911This fine Ship's Bell Clock is being offered to you at a price below what you would see in a high end auction house or clock shop. We have been selling items out of our home for over 35 years. We can therefore better control our acquisition costs, keep commission costs low (if applicable), and finally, we don't have the overhead that the high end auction houses and Clock Shops experience.Get this for a nice discount from what you would pay at the Chelsea store website, or a fine jeweler, which are typically offering this mode at around $6,250.This nautically inspired clock is considered one of the finest ever made in this country. A true masterpiece. Has a ship's wheel styled case that then sits on a beautiful mahogany wood base. The clock has a ship's bell mechanism which strikes 1 to 4 double bells at the 12, 4 8, & 12 hours. Then at the half hour the movement strikes the double bells for the hour and one bell strike for the half hour. The movement has an 11 jeweled movement. The movement itself is made from 364 brass and gold plated precision parts The solid brass bezel is opened by the side button latch on the left and then is hinged on the right side. Bezel is securely attached and latch working as expected. The clock's face is crafted from etched/incised brass that is hand silvered, enameled and lacquered. The Ship's Wheel ring is finished using a hand-rubbed process and then lacquered to prevent tarnish. A heavy piece here, weighs around 33lbs before packing, so expect the shipping cost to reflect that.Nice brass colored lacquered case here. Ship's wheel spindles are all in place. The brass case is all there. Very minor finish loss to the brass clock case and the wood base from use/age. No dings or dents to the metal case. The glass is intact, no cracks or blisters. There is a line of some sort of residue or glue on the right back side of the mahogany case, see pic. There is a slight scratch on the bezel by the number 1. A small blemish on the bronzed metal base above the wood bottom closer to the right side. The clock comes in the bottom part of the original case, no top, and with some of the original Chelsea paperwork. The bottom of the box shows some minor wear and tear. The clock has an 8 day mechanical brass movement. The wind springs feel sound when keyed. The clock will come with a wind key. The clock has been running and striking as expected, since we acquired it. So, the clock is being sold in running and striking condition at this juncture. Nice mahogany wood base that this clock is securely attached to. The Chelsea Ship's Bell Clock on wood stand is 17.5" tall, by 14" across, by 5.5" wide. The clock face is 6" across. A heavy piece, so expect the shipping cost to reflect that. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures. This clock's movement has not been serviced by us since we acquired the clock. No guarantee the clock will be in operating condition, once shipped or delivered to you. The pictures provided both complement and supplement the listing description, so please look at them very closely as well. With old items, there is no way one can capture all the little imperfections in words, so the two media are meant to be the full description. As can be expected when dealing with a vintage clock, some adjustments may be needed after shipping to get the clock re-running correctly again as they can be very delicate. If you have not had experience with old mechanical clocks before, we would suggest you steer clear. One really needs to have the patience, and skill to work with these great works of art. They are not our modern plug in and go, or change the battery clocks. Please ask any questions relating to this matter, before you decide to purchase it. Make sure that this clock meets your needs and requirements before deciding to acquire it. The item can be returned, there is a 15% restocking fee to do so. So again, ask all questions you have, come see in person or send a friend to see the clock on your behalf, prior to deciding to acquire it. Don't be shy, we are always open to reasonable suggestions! This clock is just waiting for the right collector out there to acquire and refurbish for their collection. Please check out our other Timeless Tokens store listings as we are regularly adding new items. We specialize in antique and vintage artwork, books, collectibles, furniture, musical instruments, clocks, and decorative boxes. Thanks for your business. (A23004). SHAHRAZAD CHRONOMEANS COLLECTOR DESK CLOCK 26 OF 99 - mint condition!
This is a very rare item! Excellent condition! Listing comes with all items shown in pictures (pertaining to clock) including extra balls, maual and packing box. Definitly and eye catcher and conversation piece. The individual that bought it new loved mechanically intricate items since he was a mechanical engineer and I sold him a few unique items over the years. He was a bachelor and had no problem buying items he enjoyed and found it relaxing watching this clock’s operation. Sad to say he passed away about 3 weeks after he purchased it. I purchased it together with some other of his items from his sister, who had no interest in them. His sister showed me the catalog from Abrasax Design Group where he bought it new for $7000. Considering how long it ran and the mint condition I thought $2000 discount was pretty good, but we'll see. (Condition: Pre-Owned)

CHELSEA CLOCK CO BOSTON WARDROOM SOLID BRASS PILOT HOUSE WALL CLOCK CIRCA 1917
After researching and speaking with a Chelsea Clock historian, I am most confident that this is an extremely RARE Wardroom Pilot House clock from circa 1917 and that there were only 3 known to be in existence a couple of years ago. I will do my best to accurately describe the measurements and answer all questions to the best of my ability. I am an Ebay seller and buyer for 17 years with 100% positive feedback. The clock is being sold "as is." I had a very souring experience a couple of months ago with an Ebayer that brought a brand new $300.00 vacuum and swapped it out for a broken one and was

Stunning William Thornhill & Co. Antique "Heathen Chinee" Clock, SEE VIDEO!!
eBay Up for sale is a rare William Thornhill & Co. of London 8 day clock from the mid to late 19th century. The case is expertly hand carved out of a stunning solid piece of oak in the form of a Chinese warrior. The movement is of French origin and an 8 day wind dating 1850's. Marked "VAP" (Velonge a Paris) indicates the craftsman was living in Paris in in the mid 1800's, trade mark 'Brevette" used by French makers such as Japy. The movement has been properly maintained, serviced and because of that, is in 100% working condition keeping time flawlessly over the course of 8 days on a single full wind. All pieces are original with nothing replaced, I just had this clock's movement fully dismantled, cleaned and oiled by one of the best clock makers in the South East United States. Antique William Thornhill Antique Clock, Rare English Clock c.1880 - YouTube Video will open in a new windowUsing the eBay App? Paste link into a browser window: [isdntekvideo] The blue willow style dial was made specifically for this clock and was not made from a plate or bowl. The dial is in good condition with minor stress cracks with mild staining where the screws are inserted caused from being over tightened at some point and a crack that runs along the bottom horizontally across the face. The dial is fully intact as the crack does not run through. The wood carved case is just visually stunning as you can see from the photos which accurately depicts its unique beauty. The height of the entire clock is approximately 14 inches tall, base measures 9 x 4 inches and the diameter of the blue willow dial is 7 inches. On the front of the base is a silver etched plaque that read, "Xmas 1880" not only dating it, but indicating the fact it was given as a Christmas gift by a wealthy individual. On the reverse of the base is a brass tag that reads "W. Thornhill & Co. 144 New Bond St.". Under the face of the dial in the warriors robes is carved "Heathen Chinee" which may be some type of commemorative to the poem by Bret Harte.Their are two repairs to the wood case one to the warrior's right hand which has been re-attached (old repair) as seen in the 10th photo provided and a piece of his right mustache which appears to be an old repair. The case and movement are both in overall just stunning condition! This is an incredible opportunity to own such a rare clock from the scarcely seen maker William Thornhill & Co. of London.William Thornill & Co. became famous for the cutlery during the 18th century as they supplied the royal family with their dining wear. Their clocks are rarely seen as their held in private collections and in the ownerships of museums. Two Thornhill & Co's clocks have been referenced to residing in the ownership of the royal family in Windsor Castle! This clock has been held in a private collection for the last 60 years and this is its first time available to the market. To my knowledge this has never been seen or published in any catalogue or reference material to date. No other similar clock has been known to be manufactured by William Thornhill & Co. and their is not a single clock that even closely resembles the craft mans ship and beauty of this rare English clock. If you have any questions please feel free to ask, thanks for looking and good luck!Thank you for visiting Henning Fine Art's online gallery here on eBay! Very Rare 1870's antique Ithaca No. 3-1/2 Parlor Double Dial Calendar clock
(Please read this note before deciding to buy or make offers. Until recently, I had listed it for pickup only, because of the possibility of the mechanism getting affected during shipping. There is a lot of interest in this item. So, I have decided to list now with shipping option. However, you have to keep in mind that there will definitly be a need to get it tuned up to make it work at your end. Either you should have experience doing that yourself, or have acces to a person/shop experienced in doing so. I will do my best to pack and ship, including double boxing, etc. Even if nothing breaks during shipping there is still a possibility that some work would be needed to make this clock work once you receive it. Feel free to contact me if you have any concerns. If you prefer professional packing and shipping please let me know.)This is a very collectible and hard to find shelf calendar clock. It has an 8 day time and strike spring driven brass movement with perpetual calendar. The clock case is made of walnut with ebonized turned columns, spandrels and carved crests. It has nickel plated dial surrounds, bell, pendulum rod and crescent calendar hand. The black time dial is 4" and the 31 day glass calendar dial is 7" in diameter, respectively. The gridiron pendulum has a weight/bob made of a glass disk and is etched to read "ICCCo". The calendar dial is marked "H. B. HORTON'S patents, April 18, 1865, and August 28, 1866, ITHACA CALENDAR CLOCK CO. Ithaca, NY". When the time dial is removed one can see that the brass movement is signed "E. N. Welch, Forestville, CT, U. S. A." The clock is 20.5" high, 10.25" wide and 5.5" deep and is in working condition. Key is included. It may need some adjustments to work perfectly. I only tried to set the beat of the clock which may again need to be set after moving/shipping of the clock.(YOU CAN MAKE REASONABLE OFFERS). RARE RARE Antique 1940s Restored Original CLEVELAND PEPSI COLA Double NEON CLOCK
Very RARE!!! Antique 1930s - 40s Cleveland PEPSI COLA Double Neon ClockCompletely Restored*** ALL ORIGINAL ***Serious collectors: A very RARE Find (make sure you look at the pictures and videos) of this fantastic large Original Cleveland clock with a very old... (but hand restored / hand painted) Pepsi Cola Dial... or Face.See both lit and unlit videos with the youtube links below:Neon Unlit:https: youtu be 8yaA7ltV yQNeon Lit:https: youtu be lD9eRmXkAoo Video above (ebay photos) only shows the lit version (when it appears)NOTE: The Inner Neon is RED and the face lights up RED. Pictures (due to my digital camera) appear orange, but in person... the inside color is a nice RED!SPECIAL NOTE: I had a question, which I will address here. Someone wanted to know about the transformer, being what appears to be " old ". So, here's my response: As the transformer is perfectly working already... perhaps whoever is considering buying this may be concerned about having to replace an "old" transformer down the road. I will gladly swap it out for a brand new 3500V transformer if requested (no charge)... which I have on hand... and you will be assured of having a long life for the internals... or for $75 additional, you can keep the original one in there, and I will send the replacement along so you may keep it on hand, since I have already swapped the old motor out, . for a New Old Stock Synchron, and as well.... serviced / and lubricated the movement. It is just as new as well. (I can send you a photo of the original motor before swapping it out, on request) You cannot ask for a better combination of original replacement parts for this super RARE Cleveland Clock. Now ready to last another lifetime. This clock was recently acquired from an estate collection, and the original design of the Pepsi logo was completely crackled (see the photos for comparison). It then was professionally restored (hand painted) over the old design exactly as it was originally. No filling of the crackle.... all of that is still there, but the colors are completely now uniform and visible with no obliteration. This is still an original face. The clock required a new neon tube on the outside, and a replacement (New Old Stock) original Synchron Motor (pictures show the improvement. New wiring and cloth covered long cord... and the addition of a pull chain switch to allow the clock to be on, but the neon to be turned on or off at will. The entire housing was repainted as well. This is set to sit upright on any table or counter... or hang from any sturdy wall hook by its rear bracket... or hang suspended vertically from any higher elevation by the attached chain. (see picture of back)All in all, you won't find one of these around in this lifetime again. Very Unique, and RARE as all you real collectors know. Measures: 23" by 20" (diag / flat) by 6" DepthWeighs: 19 Lbs Shipping: Rest assured... I know how to ship these for full protection. I use soft foam for cushioning and hard foam for wall protection and crush proofing. Will go by Fedex insured. (Condition: Pre-Owned)

Would make a great gift of keep for yourself! Check out this beautiful E. Howard & Company Wall Clock. Made in Boston, MA. Has the key for the case that operates the lock. The lock works. See lock pic, not sure if lock mechanism is original or not. Fancy embossed detailed knob on the front of the wood case as well as the ring around the keyhole, as well. The finials are all in place on the wood case. This is the one watchman station model from what we have researched. This fine Wall Clock is being offered to you at a price below what you would see in a high end auction house or clock shop. We have been selling items out of our home for over 35 years. We can therefore better control our acquisition costs, keep commission costs low (if applicable), and finally, we don't have the overhead that the high end auction houses and Clock Shops experience. The clock was made in the late 1880s period. Beautiful, maybe a cherry wood case, on this one. Nice receded detailing on the front of the case. Scalloped trim along the top. The back of the wood case appears to be made of mahogany wood. Stencils noting the Watch Clock model are still on the door. Looks like old glass in the case. The front door is securely attached to the rest of the case by the hinges. The glass is intact, no cracking or blistering. Nice old rippling glass here, not some new smooth replacement glass.Has the one lead weight with a brass casing as this is a time only clock. Cannot say if original to the clock or not. Comes with a wind key. Should be an 8 day movement. The pendulum Bob is 4.5” across. The pendulum rod is made of wood and painted gold. Some loss of the paint on the rod. Some sun lightening to the right side of the case over the years. A couple of new stainless brackets on back of case added sometime in the past to make the case more stable, see pics. A shrinkage crack runs across the top of the case. This clock face has roman numerals at all 12 positions. Certainly some paint loss from over the years. Nice looking matching hands on the clock. We see no cracks or splits in the wood case, nor any missing pieces. This clock is being sold in not running condition as have not yet had an opportunity to hang and test it out. The clock is 58.25" tall, 19" across, by 9.25" wide. The clock face is 9.25" across. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures. Other items that can be seen in the pictures are not included, only the clock described here. This clock is too large and heavy for us to pack safely ourselves. We have had a lot of clients use blanket ship companies like ones on UShip, or one of the national moving chains for higher end furniture pieces like this one. We could assist with the removal and separate packing of the pendulum and weights, if you wish.We will also offer to deliver the Clock within 250 miles of Georgetown, DE one way. Price would be $.70 per mile for the round trip delivery plus any tolls/parking fees. It is a beloved companion that radiates warmth and charm throughout your home.Herschede, Gold Medal Winning Clocks Since 1885, Sheffield Model No 230, Starkvile Mississippi. Purely American Made.Franklin "Frank" Herschede was born on July 30, 1857 in Cincinnati, Ohio.In 1873, at the age of 16, he began working as an apprentice watch and clock repairman for Charles Cook.In 1877, he went into business for himself and moved to Vine and 5th Street in Cincinnati. He diversified into jewelry, watches, diamonds, etc., and in 1885, the store moved to larger quarters at the corner of Arcade and Vine.In 1885, noting the success of Walter H. Durfee, Herschede began importing movements and having cases made in a nearby cabinet shop on Front Street in Cincinnati, Ohio. Frank’s clock business expanded to the point that he purchased the cabinet shop in 1900.In 1901, Frank exhibited in the South Carolina and West Indian Exposition at Charleston, South Carolina, where he received a gold medal for his hall clocks. This was the first of several medals earned by the firm.Frank's son, Walter, graduated from high school in 1902, and began work in the cabinet shop. On December 29, 1902 the Herschede Hall Clock Company was incorporated. In that same year, Herschede began to produce his own tubes and install them in his clocks. In 1903 the Herschede Hall Clock Company factory moved from Front Street to 1011-1015 Plum Street. In 1904 the Herschede Hall Clock Company won several medals in the Louisiana Purchase Exposition in St. Louis in 1904: a gold medal for the best hall clock, a gold medal for the best hall clock cases, and a silver medal for tubular chimes. In 1909, the Herschede Hall Clock Company leased the building next door at 1007-1009 Plum Street to manufacture clock movements. The first movement passed final inspection on January 10, 1911. In 1913, a third melody, “Canterbury Chimes” was added to the Whittington and Westminster chimes. The tune was composed by Charles Eisen, "a gifted American pianist," especially for Herschede. (If you have a Herschede clock with this tune and are a musician, we'd appreciate having the tune so we can add it to our clock chime tunes page in this reference library... contact us and let's talk about how to make this happen... thanks in advance. We'd also like to have a digital recording of this tune.)At the Panama-Pacific International Exposition the firm won two additional major awards: grand prize was presented to the Herschede Hall Clock Company for chime hall clocks and mantel clocks, and a gold medal was awarded for the hall clock cabinets manufactured by the company.By the early 1920's the Herschede Hall Clock Company had opened branch sales offices in New York City, then in Chicago and San Francisco. Frank Herschede died on September 15, 1922, and Walter was named president in January of 1923.In 1925, Walter began to work with Mr. Warren to develop electric movement chime clocks. By April of 1926, the Revere Clock Company came into being.By 1927 the Herschede Hall Clock Company had added a pair of smaller lines of clocks, including a clock (about 6’ in height) and a “petite” clock (generally under 7’ in height). These were produced in the same styles as the larger hall clocks.By 1929 the Herschede Hall Clock Company had some 300 employees, but the Great Depression caused a significant reduction in demand for hall clocks (and just about everything else except jobs)!By 1933 the Herschede Hall Clock Company changed its primary focus on the lower end, introducing an inexpensive line of electric clocks called “Crown Clocks”.On February 4, 1934, Walter's son, Richard Herschede, began working fulltime with his father. The Herschede Hall Clock Company ceased clockmaking during WWII, focusing its manufacturing expertise on observational instruments and optical components for the military. Subsequent to the war, clockmaking resumed, but never regained its pre-war momentum. Eventually, the firm branched out into, of all things, the manufacture of parking meters! In 1952 the Herschede Hall Clock Company began using imported Junghans movements in its non-tubular bell clocks. Then, in 1959, in the midst of extreme economic difficulties, the North Mississippi Industrial Development Association lured the Herschede Hall Clock Company to move its plant to Starkville, Mississippi, with the new factory opening in May of 1960.In 1973, the Herschede Hall Clock Company merged with Howard Furniture and Briarwood Lamps to become Arnold Industries, Inc.On September 23, 1983, Herschede announced a plan to restructure the Herschede Hall Clock division from a manufacturer of the finished clocks to a supplier of quality tubular bell movements to the industry. The firm briefly resumed production of clocks in 1989, making approximately 20 clocks between that year and 1992 under the ownership of Howard W. Klein and Robert Eggering of St. Louis, MO. The firm was then sold to R&M Imports of Waynesville, OH, which manufacturers replacement parts for existing Herschede clocks CONDITIONGood antique condition, wear and distressing commensurate with age and use, light scuffing / marking, working DIMENSIONS24 x 18.5" d x 86" hPAYMENTThe sooner you pay, the sooner you get your item. The Designers Consignment insists on receiving payment within 3 days of your winning bid or Purchase, otherwise we reserve the right to make a second chance offer to the second place bidder or re-list the item. Please let us know if you have any additional questions SHIPPING & HANDLINGWe are currently unable to ship to international US locations. Reproduction Simon Willard Lighthouse Clock-Weight Driven w/ Passing Strike
eBay Rarely up for sale in the clock collector market and for your bidding consideration, is this Reproduction Simon Willard Lighthouse Clock. It has an 8 day weight driven passing strike movement. This fine Willard reproduction stands 33.5 inches tall with the glass dome in place and 9" in diameter. There is a brass tag on the rear access door that states "Simon Roxbury Willard". The lighthouse clock is made of a mahogany veneered case in three sections with an eight-sided base. It has an applied gilded ormolu wreath and applied center Caduceus (appears to be) and removable back door on 4 wooden ball feet. The clock is in overall excellent condition and is running and keeping time properly. As with any weight driven or mechanical movements, it is being sold as is with the understanding that the movement may need adjusting after a move. Being a collector of clocks for 30+ years, I've rarely had to adjust the weight driven movements after being moved. Careful handling and care should avoid that possibility. I am unsure of the year the clock was made but I'm going to date it to the late 1970's/1980's. If any of my fellow collectors have a better idea on its age, please email me and I'll update if necessary. It's not often that a reproduction weight driven Simon Willard lighthouse clock comes onto the market. When you consider that a real deal Simon Willard Lighthouse clock sells in the 10s of thousands of dollars, this is a great affordable alternative for the discerning collector. Successful buyer is responsible for paying for and arranging safe insured shipping of this clock from my location to theirs. Will work with the buyer with their shipping arrangements. This is a fine and quality weight driven lighthouse clock for the avid collector out there. Payment in full must be made prior to release of the clock. Thanks and please take a moment to view my other auctions. (Condition: Pre-Owned)
