Antique 1860s E. Howard & Co Boston Astronomical Regulator Gravity Clock #233

Sold on eBay February 25th, 2024

Antique 1860s E. Howard & Co Boston Astronomical Regulator Gravity Clock #233

Antique 1860s E. Howard & Co Boston Astronomical Regulator Gravity Clock #233 Antique 1860s E. Howard & Co Boston Astronomical Regulator Gravity Clock #233 Description This auction is for one of three really amazing antique clocks I have listed this week from the same massive local estate. The clock is an extremely rare Astronomical Regulator that was made by E. Howard & Company probably back in the 1860s or so. It has the number 233 on the dial. The massive clock measures about 60" tall, 18.5" wide and 11" deep and the back of the clock is a solid steel plate, so it weighs about 300 lbs. The clock has the original pendulum and single and is in excellent cosmetic condition. The only issue I see is that the piece that the pendulum sits on as a pivot point has a broken pendulum wire or strap that needs to be replaced (very common part and an easy fix). When it was together and wall mounted it worked good, so it should run fine once that strap is repaired. Looks to be all original. Note that this can't obviously be shipped easily, but I can arrange for shipping. It will be expensive - probably $1000-$2000 depending on location. Pick up is recommended and FREE - located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Guaranteed as described! Rare Chelsea 8.5” Dial Pedestal Presentation Clock

Sold on eBay February 3rd, 2024

Rare Chelsea 8.5” Dial Pedestal Presentation Clock

eBay For sale is an 8.5” dial Chelsea pedestal presentation clock, with original surface dial and re-nickeled case. Original Chelsea sales ledger record indicates the Chelsea movement was sold by Chelsea Clock Company to American Steam Gauge & Valve Company on May 7th, 1913. I added more photos to the listing including the clock next to an iPhone for size perspective - the 8.5” dial diameter is a significant presence Technically therefore we can alternatively refer to this clock as an American Steam Gauge Clock with Chelsea movement. I have seen it listed both ways in the very few examples sold over the years. The Chelsea movement serial number 83324 can be seen in one of the included photos. The time only movement is the marine model, currently keeping accurate time well within Chelsea’s factory standard. A key is included to lock and unlock the hinged bezel. A winding key will also be included. This clock was a presentation piece for Frederick A. Ryer, who in 1911 became the purchasing agent for the Boston & Albany RR ( owned by New York Central RR). The engraved signature is one of the finest we’ve seen for a clock of this era.If the clock needs to be adjusted in the future there is a functioning regulator accessible in the front of the dial.$2400 or best offer, plus $100 for double box packing, shipping via USPS registered insured priority, and tracking, to continental U.S. only. No returns, sale is final.I am a hobbyist, not a dealer, who has spent years putting together a discerning set of the finest Chelsea clocks from the pre-1930 area. Here’s your chance for a charming antique that would make for a wonderful holiday gift, or simply a useful mechanical instrument in your home. (Condition: Pre-Owned)

FULLY RESTORED GAZO SAN MARCOS TRIPLE CHIME WALL CLOCK

Sold on eBay June 7th, 2024

FULLY RESTORED GAZO SAN MARCOS TRIPLE CHIME WALL CLOCK

FULLY RESTORED GAZO SAN MARCOS TRIPLE CHIME WALL CLOCK For your consideration is an impressive Gazo San Marcos triple chime wall clock. I encourage you to look up the history of the Gazo family, they made very high-quality clocks in very limited numbers. I bought the clock from the family of the original owners and serviced the movement in my shop. After servicing, the clock ran for 11 days before the springs fully wound down. The movement is stamped with a date of manufacture of June 1980 and the back tag shows that the clock was sold by Argo Clocks of Santa Clara, CA on December 20, 1980. Triple Chime means that the clock will play your choice of Westminster, Whittington, or St. Michael. There is a selector switch at the top of the dial to make the selection. The case is solid oak, measuring 38 inches tall by 13.5 inches wind and 9.5 inches deep. Please look carefully at the 16 attached pictures as they provide a large amount of the description of this fine timepiece. I would also encourage you to check recent eBay sales for this Gazo model, it is how I determined the asking price and, in my opinion, this clock is superior because of the movement being serviced. GAZO FAMILY CLOCKS HISTORY. Around 1973, Lou and Cleo Gazo, along with their children Ed and Renee, took the family hobby to the next level and started the Gazo Family Clock Factory. The idea was to build clocks based on the highly carved European clocks that they had been importing and restoring. Gazo clocks were mainly sold by clock shops like The ClockPeace, a chain of clock stores with locations in Carmel, San Francisco, and La Jolla, California. Gazo also ran two stores in Scottsdale, AZ and Beverly Hills. As you can see by the store locations, Gazo clocks were high-end and purchased by the most discerning buyers. Lou Gazo retired in 1982 and Ed Gazo became president of the company. Gazo Clocks continued to operate until 1989 when they finally ceased operations. Gazo clocks are still highly sought after today for the highly carved and well-built cases. PAYMENT AND SHIPPING. People deserve to be treated fairly and to expect that their transaction will be handled as if the business was being done face to face. Read my feedback and you can see that I live by these words. I know that the shipping cost seems high but this is an item of substantial value so eBay requires that it be sent out fully insured and with signature confirmation. There are also substantial costs in building a box strong enough to make sure that the clock arrives in the same condition that it left in and the fact that the box will weigh over 50 lbs. Check my feedback, I am an expert in proper packing. Due to the vibration of shipping, no guarantee can be given but this item is covered by the eBay Money Back Guarantee program. Also, I pride myself in excellent preparation for shipment and can help via email or by phone in getting the clock set up. Clock will be shipped by UPS so I cannot ship to PO boxes. Thank you for looking at my auction. RECENT CUSTOMER FEEDBACK This seller practices outstanding communication! The 1898 Seth Thomas "Larkin" mantle clock was beautifully and perfectly restored.
