RARE RESTORED SETH THOMAS SONORA 8 BELL CHIME NO. 266 ANTIQUE MANTEL CLOCK 1914
CHIME CLOCK NO. 266 8-BELL - 1914 For offer and making a scarce appearance is this beautiful Seth Thomas Chime Clock No. 266 that has an 8 bell Sonora produced in the year of 1914. The original finish on the High-grade, very large and heavy mahogany cabinet is in excellent condition with very few character marks as the pictures will show. A beautiful shaded marqueterie (inlay) pattern below the dial, above the dial and around the base really makes this clock stand out as a one of a kind. This clock has a sticker marked 174 on the bottom. Not sure if this is the number of this model made or not but the hand writing is a lot nicer than mine is. This clock has a strong, smooth running, rebuilt 104 Sonora movement, that has had every pivot hole re bushed and is timed properly with the chime wheel and cam wheel. The Sonora movements function is for the quarter hours that the time and strike movement operates. It is designed to play Westminster continuous Whittington continuous or can be switched to alternate to hear Westminster Chime one hour and Whittington Chime the next hour. The 89N time and strike movement has been completely rebuilt replacing all worn pivot holes except for the time load gear and has also been timed properly for proper function of the time and strike of the hours. It has been keeping excellent, consistent time and functioning properly. The back of both of the movements have high polished brass plates making it difficult to take a picture without showing a reflection. The dial is a huge 8 inch convex etched silver dial with large black Arabic numerals that can be clearly viewed from a distance. Seth Thomas Spade shaped hour and minute hands. A polished brass sash and no scratches or chips on the original convex beveled glass. Both front and rear doors open and close properly as they should. This model is equipped with 8-Sonora patented resonated bells with silent chime lever to silence the quarter hours. A video has been added to see and hear each quarter hour followed by the full Whittington and Westminster chime with hour strike. The original pendulum bob with brass on one side and lead on the other side and the original large wing two-sided key come with the clock. This is a model that is not seen often in the ebay and public market and having the original bob and key along with being an 8 bell continuous alternate chime clock make this clock very desirable and highly sought after. Every aspect of this clock is fully functional. What I do to ensure you are buying a quality clock. Ø Disassemble the entire clock and movements myself completely. Ø Bush all worn pivot holes with Burgeon bronze bushings as needed. Ø Clean the entire movement ultrasonically. Ø Clean the original dial being careful not to alter its original condition. If the dial is to far gone, it will be professionally silvered and restored back to Seth Thomas dial specifications. Ø Clean bezel, parts and chime rods by hand. Ø Clean the outside of the original finish by hand with mild cleaners as well as the inside and apply a coat of wax by hand. Ø I will never alter the finish or farm out the clock not knowing what is being done to the clock. This does decrease the value of a clock. Ø Reassemble the clock, oil and lube in the proper places. Ø Adjust chime and strike hammer sequence properly to assure smooth and even strikes at each quarter-hour and hour. Ø Electronically regulate the beat and adjust the speed while the clock is level to ensure accuracy for many generations. Ø Inspect and adjust every minor detail of the clock assuring full function and peak performance for many years to come. Ø Test the clock for a minimum of two weeks to ensure peak and proper performance for the new owner. Ø Smoke free, pet free home. All clocks are cleaned removing odors. Knight & Gibbins Mantel Clock
Hello.Around the year 2005, the wife and I visited a fancy clock shop in Winchester, England. Price for mantel close often was close to 3,000 pounds.At the Winchester store, they suggested the manufacture of Knight & Gibbins. Cabinets were made in England the internal comes from Germany: Hemle who was famous for fine clocks. Original boxing is with enclosed original key. This is an 8 day windup key and if you read the photos shown here you can get specifics of the clock including measurements of box.The chime is very pleasant: 4 notes at quarter past, then 8 notes at half, 12 notes at 45 and full 16 notes at the hour. After playing the notes, the hour of the clock is played such as as 3 single notes for 3 and 9 single notes at 9 etc. In the photo special here in the second position you can hear the chime and the hour as examples.Clock worked fine for 15 years and then needed cleaning, light oil and further lubrication. The wait at Swiss House was about 9 months and then they did the work. This is normal for Orlando, FL and may be similar to your area. The clean-lubricate was $300.Please see that I have some 800 transactions on ebay with 100% positive feedback so you the customer will we well cared for. Vintage Antique Hexagonal 2 Tube Neon Clock -- EXCELLENT CONDITION
You are buying a vintage hexagonal neon clock with two tubes in perfect operational condition.This vintage neon clock has been hanging in our kitchen since 2005, when I put it up. It keeps perfect time and lights brightly with no buzzing. The time set knob works and there is a pull-chain switch to turn the neon on or off.I can't find a makers mark on the front of this clock, but from the shape and style I think it might have been made by the Neon Display Company of New Jersey, sometime in the 1930's or 1940's.I'm sorry not to be able show photos of the back, insides, etc., but I can't get this clock down to take such pictures (see below). BTW: The small green ring seen on the face of the clock in the second photo is a reflection from another neon clock. You may arrange to see this clock in person if you contact me through eBay.I will be reducing the price of this rare clock each week until it sells. FULLY AND PROPERLY RESTORED SETH THOMAS NO. 30 REGULATOR WEIGHT DRIVEN CLOCK
FULLY AND PROPERLY RESTORED SETH THOMAS NO. 30 REGULATOR WEIGHT DRIVEN CLOCK Offered for sale is a fully and properly restored Seth Thomas No. 30 Regulator weight driven wall clock. This clock is shown as Item 962 on page 306 of Ly’s Seth Thomas book. It lists 1909 as the date of manufacture and a 2005 value of $4500. The clock case is in great condition and the clock still has the original wavy glass. The downside of the clock is that the weight is a replacement and the original dial had to be professionally redone due to extensive damage. The clock shows well but you need to be aware that the clock has had work done to it to restore it to its present condition. The identical clock just sold at the Schmitt Horan auction house for $2000 and the buyer paid a 25% premium for a $2500 total. I would also point out that the clock that sold at auction also had a redone dial and did not have a fully serviced movement. The movement in my clock has been completely serviced with all pivots polished, all holes properly burnished, and the cable replaced. Case dimensions are 49 inches tall by 19 inches wide by 8 inches deep. Please examine the 11 pictures carefully as they provide a detailed description of this fine timepiece. WHAT MAKES A CLOCK A GOOD VALUE? The rules of economics are fairly straightforward Simply put, it is almost impossible to spend a little and get a lot. Antique and vintage clocks follow these rules as well. You can buy “As Found” clocks for less money. Then you have to pay a shop to go through the movement and when you are done, you have spent more than if you would have bid on the nicer clocks in the beginning. I have tried through the photos to show the basic steps that I do in restoring these wonderful machines to their original state. My goal is to provide you with a quality time piece that will provide enjoyment and be a source of pride in your home for years to come. Equally important to me is to provide you with a clock that I believe will retain its value over the years. That is what I think constitutes real value in antique and vintage clocks. MY PHILOSOPHY ON CLOCKS AND CLOCK MOVEMENTS. The only way to properly repair a movement is to completely disassemble, clean and inspect all parts, and make the needed repairs by proper horoligical methods. This includes the rebushing of all worn holes and the polishing of any rough pivots. The movements are then reassembled, lubricated with a high-quality clock oil and test run for 8 days. This is a very time intensive process but is the only correct way to properly recondition a clock movement. You should expect a movement repaired in this manner to run for ten years trouble-free. I have been doing clock repair for over 36 years. I apprenticed under an Oregon State licensed repairman and have been a member of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors (NAWCC) since 1981. I do not make a living doing this; it has become a passion of mine. I go to estate sales, auctions, and search places like eBay and Craigslist to find clocks that are in need of restoration. Once they are made like new mechanically, I put them up for sale in the hopes of paying for my materials and upgrading my personal collection. My hope is also to provide you with an heirloom to cherish for years to come. PAYMENT AND SHIPPING. SETH THOMAS CRYSTAL REGULATOR EMPIRE No. 5 – 1904 This is a hard to find Crystal Regulator that is in excellent condition. These clocks are called Regulators for a reason. This one is keeping excellent time throughout the week within 15 seconds or less each week. You could spend just as much for an unknown. Why not buy one that has been completely serviced properly by me. This clock also comes with its original pendulum completely intact. While disassembling I was shocked to find how heavy the chrome weights inside of the vials (glass tubes) were. Also comes with an original two-sided key. 2005 book value of $750.00. The 3 ¾ inch cream porcelain dial is in excellent condition with no hairline cracks and a gorgeous floral pattern in signature Seth Thomas style adding character to this beauty. This clock has its original hour and minute hands that are always missing or have been replaced with non original hands. Original beveled glass with no chips, cracks or scratches that I can see. Metal case has a beautiful gilded pattern along the top and bottom and a flawless urn on the top giving this clock great esthetics and balance. The movement has been completely rebuilt by me for years of trouble free enjoyment, lubed and oiled in the proper places, and running strong while keeping excellent time week in and week out. Note the count wheel strike that is on the back of the movement instead of a rack and snail strike on the front showing its early age. This clock has a half hour strike 8-day fine round movement that even the winding arbors have their original grommets protecting the winding holes on the dial. The clock strikes on a cathedral gong that has a soft and mellow timbre and decay. Just click on the play button on the video provided to see and hear this clock working. This clock measures 14” high by 6 ¼” wide. This clock will compliment any of your room’s décor with its beauty and sound and you’ll be one of the lucky few who own an Empire No. 5. The original Black Forest movement has been ultrasonically cleaned and has newer trapazoidal bellows tops were added not too long ago, so this should last quite a while before needing any further routine servicing. At this time it is running very well, keeping time and cuckooing properly. The cuckoo bird itself is the original carved wood, flapping wings and squawking tongue style. The wood dial with nailed on celluloid numbers is also original with what appear to be newer hands. The case is in very nice condition for as old as it is, with beautiful and intricate carving and detail. It measures 20" high from the deer's antler tips to the leaf tip at the bottom of the case (not including the weights and pendulum) by 13 ½ ish" wide across the top piece. This is an impressive looking clock that would make a nice addition to any clock collection and should continue to rise in value for you as time goes on.
