The original Black Forest movement has been ultrasonically cleaned and has newer trapazoidal bellows tops were added not too long ago, so this should last quite a while before needing any further routine servicing. At this time it is running very well, keeping time and cuckooing properly. The cuckoo bird itself is the original carved wood, flapping wings and squawking tongue style. The wood dial with nailed on celluloid numbers is also original with what appear to be newer hands. The case is in very nice condition for as old as it is, with beautiful and intricate carving and detail. It measures 20" high from the deer's antler tips to the leaf tip at the bottom of the case (not including the weights and pendulum) by 13 ½ ish" wide across the top piece. This is an impressive looking clock that would make a nice addition to any clock collection and should continue to rise in value for you as time goes on. Be very sure to save all packaging material if there is a problem. Normally, all shipping costs are based on actual price for estimated weight plus a minimal fee for packaging material and insurance. In rare instances there may be a flat rate shipping price quoted. Smaller items can be combined to save shipping costs. Because clocks require large boxes, Priority Mail is expensive. It should be understood before bidding that all antique clocks, unless otherwise noted, have nicks, scratches, tarnished brass, stains and dents which are normally acquired from long term honest use. It is nearly impossible to find one in "mint" condition. If a clock has damage from misuse, it will be noted. If a clock is sold as "in running condition," it means that we have test run it before listing it and feel confident that it will run for you. If a clock is running properly when it arrives, that is about the best we can do. We cannot guarantee that a clock will not break down, but will not sell anything that we expect to break down without noting that it is being sold as parts or for restoration.
