We have the clock run for two days and it maintains excellent performance, keeping excellent time! The original dark blue box has clear signs of wear, the original foam wrap bag for the clock wrapping has been teared, please see the last picture for details. Please understand that you are buying a Atmos clock, the Atmos clocks do not keep perfect time like the modern quartz clocks.I live in Colorado, the city of Colorado Springs is 6,035 feet above sea level, and some of our most celebrated natural attractions are even higher--like Pikes Peak, at an impressive 14,115 feet above sea level. Since this clock is now tuned for time at high altitude, if the new owner lives at a lower altitude, some necessary calibration upon arrival at the destination might be required. After shipping, the Atmos clock might need some adjustment. If you move the Atmos clock from one room to the other,Please make sure to lock the balance wheel before doing any moving and adjustments. The adjustments of the liquid level may be needed after each move.Even if noted as working great, due to its age, it might need service anytime. Please understand that due to the delicate nature of these Atmos clock adjustments may be needed after each move.We have shipped a number of these fine Atmos clocks to various countries without any damage problems. The balance wheel(pendulum) will be locked carefully, and the clock packed with double boxes, ship with full coverage insurance to USA 48 States ONLY. Due to the high value and fragility of this clock, we do not offer international shipping.Interesting facts:Even though Leonardo da Vinci was able to prove that the production of a perpetual motion machine was physically impossible, it was still attempted time and again. In 1928, Neuchatel engineer Jean Leon Reuter invented the technology for a clock whose energy source was drawn from the ambient air, from the atmosphere so to speak. As there were repeated problems with the watches, the movements were manufactured by Le Coultre et Cie in Switzerland from 1933 and in 1935 the production rights for the Atmos watch were transferred to Ets. Ed. Jaeger in 1935.The technical principle of the movements built by Jaeger Le Coultre from 1936 onwards is simply captivating: a mixture of a liquid and ethyl chloride gas is contained in a hermetically sealed capsule. As the temperature rises, the mixture expands, and as the temperature falls, it contracts, causing a bellows in the pressure box on the back of the watch to move like an accordion. This movement continuously winds up the movement. In the range between 15 and 30?C, a change in temperature of just one degree Celsius is enough to provide the energy for around two days of running time. (Condition: New (Other))

Antique Edo Period Japanese Inro Watch / Clock & Sundial / Compass 1700s RARE
This listing is for an antique extremely rare Edo-period. Japanese gilt-brass mounted shitan wood watch (INRO-DOKEI). It is an exquisite piece, with a carved wooden case, and a beautifully carved metal movement; along with an extraordinary compass / sundial that has a case made of mokume-gane. It is likely from the late Edo Period, from what my research can find. I am unsure the exact year of its manufacture, but it appears to be potentially mid to late 1700s to early 1800s. A Japanese version of a portable compact watch in a casing resembling a pillbox, along with its compass. I have not been able to narrow down a maker yet, but it appears that the golden bead attached to the compass has both a potential signature and an exquisite lotus flower. These pieces were made before any sort of standardized time that we are used to, so the compass & sundial were integral for helping to keep your clock keep time while out & about. Japanese Inro clock-watches & their compass/ sundials of this caliber do not come often, especially not on ebay. Usually these are tied up in big-name auctions, with high buyer-premiums & extra fees; so grab this one now while you can!It appears to be in working condition, however I have not fully wound it up, due to my lack of experience with clocks of this kind. It appears to wind and run just fine though, there do not seem to be any broken mechanics, and the chain is complete and seemingly mint. I have not applied any oil or taken it apart in any way (other than sliding it out of the wooden case) so as not to cause damage. It is as-found, but in excellent condition. The curved rectangular case with its glass has an amazingly detailed hand carved design. The front has some filigree & leaved, the back displays two monks, or a monk & a god, playing some version of checkers under a blossoming tree. As you can see, the case has cracked in two during some point in its life. It seems that it could be delicately glued & restored to one whole unit, but I have not done so, as I do not know the correct glue to use. It may also be missing a metal bezel for the glass, but the glass is not loose. Restoration is up to buyers preferences. I am not sure if there were originally any top or bottom wooden panels held in place by the cord that are now lost. Comes with all the casing pieces shown. The metal front plate is engraved with leafy branches, the number panels, which can be slid depending on the time of year appear to be hand carved. The single chain fusee movement with verge escapement and plain balance with pierced and engraved bridgecock, with backplate with balance regulation scale and engraved with floral branches. It has a cord terminating with the engraved copper Damascus drum-shaped netsuke, opening to reveal a silver compass and sundial. It has its original gilt lacquer or potentially even gold, bead; an ojime. If you look in the carved copper body of the compass you can see the Mokume-gane (???) which it is made of. It is a Japanese metalworking procedure which produces a mixed-metal laminate with distinctive layered patterns; the term is also used to refer to the resulting laminate itself. The term mokume-gane translates closely to "wood grain metal" or "wood eye metal" and describes the way metal takes on the appearance of natural wood grain.[1] Mokume-gane fuses several layers of differently coloured precious metals together to form a sandwich of alloys called a "billet." To the best I can tell, that is what this compass case is made of, though besides copper I am unsure the metals used. The loop to hold the thread & its embossed attachment piece, as well as the compass & sundial faces may be silver, but I am not sure. I have not tested any of the metal content at all, to not damage it. The dial has adjustable silvered engraved characters which represent the time as indicated by the hand. I believe the characters are two sequences of nine to four with the zodiac symbols used for the nine to represent noon and midnight. At the end of the Edo Period, pendulums and balance springs started to be used in speed regulators. Because it was difficult to adjust the time variations of both the four seasons and day and night mechanically, a hand-rotated dial of numbers that changed the time interval was conceived. The small rotating dial is engraved with text for 12 periods of time (the 12 signs of the Chinese zodiac or numbered hours from 9 to 4). Japanese traditional clocks mainly in the Edo period that conformed to the temporal hour system developed uniquely in Japan, drawing attention from researchers in the world, and being highlighted in foreign books and studied. These clocks are highly sought after, many are on display in museums or locked away in private collections, but few are ever for sale. This clock comes from a massive estate collection, and was extremely well cared for in a temperature controlled room. Please check back this weekend & next week for multiple other antique & unique clocks I will be listing!Thank you for your consideration, reasonable offers are always considered. Please see photos for details & measurements, comes as shown- “lightly/semi tested”. Description is based upon research available. With any clock, this one may require set up and/or adjustment after shipment, however rest assured it will be packaged with extreme care suitable for such a quality item.(Please note- Shipping is within the US, lower 48 states, only. No exceptions. Item must be paid for within 4 days of purchase, unless arranged otherwise, or your order will be cancelled & relisted. )(Please note- Shipping is within the US, lower 48 states, only. No exceptions. )Please feel free to read on below for a brief history of clocks in Japan, courtesy of the Japan Clock & Watch Association’s remarkably informative site: As Christianity spread in Japan, missionaries established vocational schools affiliated with churches in Kyushu and Kyoto. In addition to print technology, organs, and astronomical instruments, these schools taught production techniques for clocks. Japanese blacksmiths manufactured clocks under the guidance of these schools, resulting in the first mechanical clock production in Japan.According to the "Owari-shi" (a periodical from the Owari territory) compiled in 1832, Sukezaemon Tsuda from Nagoya City repaired a clock belonging to Ieyasu Tokugawa, and then used it as a model to create a new clock, which he offered to Ieyasu. For his service, Sukezaemon Tsuda was employed by Ieyasu in 1598. However, the shogunate government soon banned Christianity and adopted a policy of seclusion, which blocked the flow of new technology from Europe. Thus, it was possible to come in contact with cultural items from places such as China and Holland through Nagasaki only, and this also affected Japanese traditional clock production Clock makers gradually increased around the country, with many working as personal clock makers for the shogunate family and feudal lords for whom they were making gorgeous articles. Japanese traditional clock production sites included first and foremost Nagasaki, as well as Matsue, Kyoto, Osaka, Sakai, Ise, Nagoya, Wakasa, Edo, Sendai, Morioka, and Hirosaki. In Europe, mechanical clocks appeared as timekeeping switched from a variable to fixed method, but Japan at that time used a unique temporal hour system. As a result, clock production basically remained a copy of early European methods. Rather than work to increase the precision of clocks, Japanese clock makers focused on creativity and originality to conform to the country's unique temporal hour system. This resulted in the development of unique Japanese traditional clocks not seen elsewhere. (Condition: Pre-Owned)

Chelsea "The Mariner" Ship's Bell Clock Ltd Ed on Wood Base Running & Striking
eBay Chelsea "The Mariner" Ship's Bell Clock w/ Mahogany Base Limited Edition 6" Clock Face - Running & Striking Ltd Ed Repro of the 1911 Yacht Wheel Clock Item Description Beautiful Vintage Chelsea Ship's Bell Clock, the Mariner model, here for your buying consideration. Would make a great gift for a special occasion, or keep it for yourself! The pictures do not do justice to the size of this piece, it stands 17.5" tall.Nice looking marine/nautical clock here. Made by the Chelsea Clock Company in the USA. "The Mariner" model is one of the most sought out Ship's Bell clocks made by Chelsea. This is a limited edition release of this model by Chelsea. Would guess from design that the clock was made sometime in the ??? (still researching). This offering by Chelsea was only a 500 limited edition run, so very rare to find one outside of Chelsea or a fine jeweler. this clock is number 65 of 500.The original this model is based upon was first issued by Chelsea in 1911This fine Ship's Bell Clock is being offered to you at a price below what you would see in a high end auction house or clock shop. We have been selling items out of our home for over 35 years. We can therefore better control our acquisition costs, keep commission costs low (if applicable), and finally, we don't have the overhead that the high end auction houses and Clock Shops experience.Get this for a nice discount from what you would pay at the Chelsea store website, or a fine jeweler, which are typically offering this mode at around $6,250.This nautically inspired clock is considered one of the finest ever made in this country. A true masterpiece. Has a ship's wheel styled case that then sits on a beautiful mahogany wood base. The clock has a ship's bell mechanism which strikes 1 to 4 double bells at the 12, 4 8, & 12 hours. Then at the half hour the movement strikes the double bells for the hour and one bell strike for the half hour. The movement has an 11 jeweled movement. The movement itself is made from 364 brass and gold plated precision parts The solid brass bezel is opened by the side button latch on the left and then is hinged on the right side. Bezel is securely attached and latch working as expected. The clock's face is crafted from etched/incised brass that is hand silvered, enameled and lacquered. The Ship's Wheel ring is finished using a hand-rubbed process and then lacquered to prevent tarnish. A heavy piece here, weighs around 33lbs before packing, so expect the shipping cost to reflect that.Nice brass colored lacquered case here. Ship's wheel spindles are all in place. The brass case is all there. Very minor finish loss to the brass clock case and the wood base from use/age. No dings or dents to the metal case. The glass is intact, no cracks or blisters. There is a line of some sort of residue or glue on the right back side of the mahogany case, see pic. There is a slight scratch on the bezel by the number 1. A small blemish on the bronzed metal base above the wood bottom closer to the right side. The clock comes in the bottom part of the original case, no top, and with some of the original Chelsea paperwork. The bottom of the box shows some minor wear and tear. The clock has an 8 day mechanical brass movement. The wind springs feel sound when keyed. The clock will come with a wind key. The clock has been running and striking as expected, since we acquired it. So, the clock is being sold in running and striking condition at this juncture. Nice mahogany wood base that this clock is securely attached to. The Chelsea Ship's Bell Clock on wood stand is 17.5" tall, by 14" across, by 5.5" wide. The clock face is 6" across. A heavy piece, so expect the shipping cost to reflect that. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures. This clock's movement has not been serviced by us since we acquired the clock. No guarantee the clock will be in operating condition, once shipped or delivered to you. The pictures provided both complement and supplement the listing description, so please look at them very closely as well. With old items, there is no way one can capture all the little imperfections in words, so the two media are meant to be the full description. As can be expected when dealing with a vintage clock, some adjustments may be needed after shipping to get the clock re-running correctly again as they can be very delicate. If you have not had experience with old mechanical clocks before, we would suggest you steer clear. One really needs to have the patience, and skill to work with these great works of art. They are not our modern plug in and go, or change the battery clocks. Please ask any questions relating to this matter, before you decide to purchase it. Make sure that this clock meets your needs and requirements before deciding to acquire it. The item can be returned, there is a 15% restocking fee to do so. So again, ask all questions you have, come see in person or send a friend to see the clock on your behalf, prior to deciding to acquire it. Don't be shy, we are always open to reasonable suggestions! It would have been a little taller, but the tip of the top carved crest is missing. This Victorian Ithaca Parlor Calendar Clock is a No. 3 ½ and is constructed from Walnut with carved Ebony accents. It has a brass 8-day spring driven movement with hour strike on a silvered bell. There is a “count wheel strike mechanism” and the original silvered, etched glass pendulum. At the top is 4-inch clock dial with pierced spade silvered hands and at the bottom is a 7-inch, 31 day calendar dial with silvered date numbers, plus a revolving day and month window. All this is original and the brass bezels have the original glass. On the back are two replaced wood backboards …. I am not a knowledgeable clock dealer especially on a complicated clock like this. Both springs are wound tight and when I attached the pendulum it did work for a minute before stopping. I advanced the minute hand and it did strike, but the hammer needs adjusting to strike the bell. I’m sure this clock is complete, but will need the attention of a qualified clocksmith to keep good time once again. …… If you search the net you will find that other black faced, Ithaca Calendar Clock have sold for very high prices. Even so, we are listing this rare clock without any reserve. We also give a 100% Unconditional Guarantee that the high bidder will be more than satisfied with the quality, condition, age and authenticity or we will return all their money. …… Please contact us for an accurate shipping cost on this delicate clock BEFORE you bid. Most freight items are still shipped via UPS Ground, however some are too large and will be shipped via SEKO Worldwide. Please be sure to message us for a quote so that you know how much this is going to cost before bidding. US Buyers: The shipping calculator on the auction is an estimate and actual charges will be figured at the close of each auction. O-Scale Brass D&RGW K-36 Narrow-Gauge Locomotive
eBay Brass O-Scale Denver & Rio Grande Western K-36 No. 484 (2-8-2) Narrow-gauge Locomotive – This is an exceptional example of the model builder’s skills thirty years ago when things were really carefully made; from Samhongsa in Korea and imported by the legendary Precision Scale Co., Crown Series. A beautifully crafted scale model of the renowned D&RGW narrow gauge ‘Mikado’ type locomotive that continues to inspire railroad enthusiasts everywhere – restored in 1983 and still in use running excursion trips on the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad in portions of the Colorado/New Mexico area today. “K” designates Mikado-type and “36” denotes 36K pounds of tractive effort. This exacting reproduction model is in On3 gauge, #16219 and is in new condition throughout. No. 484 was originally built in 1925 by Baldwin Locomotive Works and weighted-in at 286k pounds, fully loaded, with tender capacity of 9.5 tons of coal and 5,000 gals of water and with a tractive power of 36,200 pounds. The most revenue came in hauling ore including coal, freight, some livestock and, of course, lumber. The railroad development in the Rockies was advanced through the vision of General William Jackson Palmer (who was a calvary officer in the Civil War and was advanced to Brigadier General by age 20) who not only created the D&RGW railroad, incorporated in October, 1870, but also the city of Colorado Springs. As an accomplished railroad construction engineer, he surveyed, designed the routes and supervised construction of his railroad. The three-foot gauge was selected due to costs, availability of materials, reduction in physical construction requirements and the formidable terrain being traversed through the mountains, across rivers and ravines. The narrow gauge allowed for smaller roadbeds, lighter track, tighter turning radiuses and faster construction – all very necessary to developing a much-needed revenue stream quickly. This reproduction is faithful to the original engine in every way and displays exquisite detailing throughout. A truly beautiful locomotive to see and unusual with the exterior mounted frame placing the drivers inside the frame with counter weights for the drivers and with connecting rods including main, primary and secondary rods, reversing gear on the outside of the steel frame plus automatic lubricator rods, air compressor, air lines and valves, compressed air tanks, steam lines and fittings – all presented in great detail and beautifully visible thanks to the superb painting, weathering and detailing of this unique model. Notice the fading of the paint, steam and water marks, grease, dirt and grime – all wonderfully painted on this exceptional model. The interior of the cab is fully detailed and painted showing all boiler backhead valves, lines, levers, seats with arm rests and apron on full display. All rivets, boiler sheeting and hold-down straps, sand and steam domes (with pressure release valves) and distribution lines, steam whistle and bell including pull cords and steam generator clearly exhibited along, with lights, marker boards, number boards, builder’s plate, toolboxes, handrails, steps and ladders – all finished beautifully that brings out every detail of this wonderful locomotive reproduction. The tender is equally well detailed including swing chains for each truck frame, re-railers air and steam lines, water connection from tender to injectors, coal bunker (filled with coal) and with inspection access doors from cab apron plus water bunker with water-fill pipe with lid and hold-downs, brakeman’s shanty and related electrical lines on full display. Offered along with this unique model are two hardcover books: “Rio Grande Narrow Gauge” and ‘Rio Grande Narrow Gauge both by author John B. Norwood; published by Heimburger House Publishing in 1983 and 1986; both first editions, complete with book jacket covers. I am a collector - not a dealer - and this amazing, one-of-a-kind model, which we purchased new, has been in our collection since 1992 and has been painted, weathered and detailed by an acclaimed model train artist high in demand – a new art-form really. His work is in such demand that the average wait time between his accepting the model for painting and completion is from 1-3 years. It was brought home, kept in it’s factory box until put on display about four years ago (never run) and is now being offered for sale so that we might expand our collection into other areas of brass locomotive types – mainly different railway equipment from narrow gauge locomotives. This exceptional reproduction deserves to be placed in a glass case and admired. Please review all details and photos carefully as no returns are possible - please ask any questions necessary to resolve any doubts or concerns that you may have regarding this rare, beautifully detailed and weathered D&RGW narrow gauge K-36 locomotive. This fine model will be shipped in its original box with original packing materials including the snow-plow attachment shipped originally with this beautiful model, double boxed, at buyer's expense – we recommend shipping via UPS or USPS Priority Mail insured. I count 18 reamers and other accessories, springs and Jacobs chuck key.
