Antique 1860s E. Howard & Co Boston Astronomical Regulator Gravity Clock #233 Antique 1860s E. Howard & Co Boston Astronomical Regulator Gravity Clock #233 Description This auction is for one of three really amazing antique clocks I have listed this week from the same massive local estate. The clock is an extremely rare Astronomical Regulator that was made by E. Howard & Company probably back in the 1860s or so. It has the number 233 on the dial. The massive clock measures about 60" tall, 18.5" wide and 11" deep and the back of the clock is a solid steel plate, so it weighs about 300 lbs. The clock has the original pendulum and single and is in excellent cosmetic condition. The only issue I see is that the piece that the pendulum sits on as a pivot point has a broken pendulum wire or strap that needs to be replaced (very common part and an easy fix). When it was together and wall mounted it worked good, so it should run fine once that strap is repaired. Looks to be all original. Note that this can't obviously be shipped easily, but I can arrange for shipping. It will be expensive - probably $1000-$2000 depending on location. Large Chelsea Base & Ball ship's bell clock with Special Grand 10" dial @ 1920s
Large dial Chelsea Base and Ball solid bronze ship's bell mantel clock @ early 1920s. This is an extremely rare clock that came out of an estate recently, where it was maintained and in regular use - this clock is in excellent original as found condition. The case has been polished and lacquered at some point in the past, and looks great, although it could have it's original antique bronze finish restored if desired. The case has an amazing look, a real work of art, and very impressive at 15 1/2" tall x 15 1/2" wide x 5" deep, and weighing in at 31 pounds. No damage or missing pieces to the case. The fancy Special Grand 10" diameter dial is excellent with its original finish and signature, being signed for the retailer J.E. Caldwell, Philadelphia. Great original fancy hands. The 8 day movement is marked Chelsea and serial number 137362, which matches the serial number stamped into the wooden base of the case, and dates between 1920 to 1924. It is complete and intact with good mainsprings, running strongly and accurately with it's original lever escapement, and striking ship's bells on the hours and half hours on its original gong, but is sold without any warranty. Important Multi Complication Chronometer Carriage Clock w Perpetual Calendar ...
eBay I have the privilege of offering this rare clock today for a dear friend who is in his 90s and has been slowly liquidating his collection through me over the past several years. This clock was purchased by him directly from Sinclair Harding in the 1980s. Clock measures 13 1/2" high, 17" with handle up, 8 1/4" wide, 7" side. As far as we know it is one of the most complicated clocks Harding has made and the only one to have ever been offered for resale until now. The condition is excellent! The clock has been very well taken care of though it has never been serviced because he was afraid to have someone take it apart. (Please keep in mind that this clock needs to be serviced) The Movement is running and has kept time since I set it about 15 hours ago. Repeater works but is sluggish though it's getting better each time I push it, same with the striking. I don't believe the clock has been wound in a couple years. The entire face of the clock measuring 10" x 6.5" is solid sterling silver with Birmingham hallmarks for 1983. I am not an expert though I will describe what I know so far about the complications. It is a striking and hour repeater, phases and age of the moon, zodiac sign display wheel, 2 wind indicators, perpetual calendar, day, date and month and a seconds indicator on the top near the balance. The movement is a high grade pivoted detent chronometer. The 2-tone full dial plate is solid sterling silver. Not sure exactly what wood was used though it is very dark and exotic with gilt brass mounts and inlays. If you are a clock maker, you can probably say quite a bit more about this clock as I'm sure I'm missing something. (Condition: Pre-Owned)

A VERY FINE ART NOUVEAU DOMED ARCHITECTURAL TABLE CLOCKEdward F. Caldwell & Co., New York, circa early 20th century | an unsigned documented exampleItem # 307PQH13X An incredibly intricate Art Nouveau table clock from the renowned firm of Edward F. Caldwell, it is a brilliant architectural work that insinuates a domed cathedral of the Renaissance. This particular clock design is catalogued in the archival records of the Smithsonian Library and Archives (Large Portfolio 84, p. 5, # A025762). It features a cast bronze finial of opposing harpies rising from cornucopia that the Caldwell firm used in several of their designs (for example, as the central motif raising a pair of candelabra branches in # A25571, Smithsonian archives, see enclosed image) situated over a domed top with applied pierced bronze elements that are intricately chiseled and bright-engraved to create a complex endlessly swirling collection of fretwork surrounding ecclesiastical imagery of classical figures, putti and angels. The fretwork in the canted corners of the dome hint at the influence of orientalism in the design process while heroes battling fantastical creatures ride horses at each corner.Raising each of the four corners of the structure are two male and two female bacchanalia figures brilliantly executed in gilded bronze, the front two flanking the circular face of the clock, this dial with raised Roman numerals over a hammered ground, the same motif of swirling foliage flowing centrally and in the spandrels of the face. The clock is raised on a base of fish-scale cove moldings over four pomegranite bun feet.The clever entwining of motifs by the designer to create a new object that embodies the essence of Art Nouveau is evident throughout the form. The classical inspirations in the heavenly imagery of the dome juxtapose brilliantly the Naturalism in the lower body of the clock. It remains an incredibly elaborate and cherished example. Measurements: 21" H x 8" D x 11 1/4" W Condition Report:Surfaces throughout are heavily worn and tarnished. The bronze elements were finished by the Caldwell firm with a pigment based patina that has largely oxidized or worn away and much of it would have originally been more of a brown hue instead of the golden hue present where patina has been relieved. Tiffany & Co. Louis XVI Style Gilt-Bronze & Green Marble Clock French Garniture
eBay Tiffany & Co. Louis XVI Style Gilt-Bronze and more desirable Green Marble Clock Garniture circular white enamel dial with black Arabic numerals, flanked by allegoral figures emblematic of Philosophy and Study, with eagle finial, and a pair of covered urns with swan-form handles. This clock is modeled after a late 18th century design by Francois Remond in which the two figures were to be executed in porcelain by the Sevres Manufactory. Clock protective glass is cracked, piece is covered in years worth of old soot, dirt, smoke. It will clean up to a much nicer piece it is just time consuming to clean properly, marble base has small chips around edges and one larger chip below lady above medallion. Urns a few small chips on marble one larger on corner see last 3 photos. Clock is 26 3/4" x 20 1/4", urns are 18" tall. The intimate couple are standing on a round green marble base, with a clock housed inside. The time shows on a nice porcelain dial, signed by Antony Bailly. The statue is made of bronze with beautiful patina from its age, signed by Louis Moreau. The complete clock stands 29" tall and the base is 11-1/2" in diameter. The movement is 8 day with half hour and hour striking. It's in good working order and complete with pendulum and winding key. CARTIER ART DECO ENAMEL AND AGATE DESK CLOCK 18k Gold.
Features a square agate frame with incuse corners and engine turned center, fancy scroll hands, cobalt enamel and gold laurel border. Stamped and engraved with serial number547 on the gold handle as seen in "European Watch & Clock Co. Inc France;" signed "Cartier" on clock face. Please look at pictures for condition. I don’t have any paperwork included with this clock. The key for winding the clock is not the original but is the right size which is a 1.65mm key that works perfectly to wind and set the time. Beautiful clock. The clock works, when winding you can hear the clock ticking. Clock must be wind every 24 hours. Any questions please message me before you purchase the clock.
