Josa Oswald) and Fritz Oswald were believed to be Wife & Husband. Both were issued patents in Germany, about 2
weeks apart. Both were listed at the
same address.
The patent
for these clocks was issued in 1926. At
that time the clocks were carved from wood of the Holly tree. After WW2, they shifted to a composite
material. By the 1950’s there were
knock-offs being made, mostly in Japan.
Before WW2
they formed a company called OSUHR, which is a combination of OS for
Oswald and UHR, for the first 3 lette

Antique Oswald Rotating Eye Skull Clock Rare. This clock tries really hard to tick and when tipped over ticks for a while or so and the stops. The tick is not even. It has been sitting gathering dust for a long time so will need some TLC. Eyes rotate Both ways when turning the dial on the back. The clock although a bit stiff winds at the back. Quirky piece and I have not seen may of the skulls being sold so probably quite rare. The base is bakelite, the skull appears to be a painted cast material.The left eye represents the hour while the right eye shows the minutes, this of course provides some comic expressions during the day.The piece is 4 inches high, and 4 inches wide. For sale is an antique Oswald Rolling rotating Eye Clock in a very uncommon Cat shape. Clock back is marked Osuhr with a USA/Great Britain patent date 1926, & the internal brass mechanism is stamped Oswald Germany. Clock has signs of age and minor damage including: a missing tip to the ear, some paint damage including scratches, fading, Chips, and the clock has some loose hardware. The Clock components work as the winding and spinning mechanisms work, but the clock needs a tune up as the screws holding the metal frame to the wood housing are loose, so the brass components flex more
1930s J. Oswald Rolling Eye Skull Clock. Figural carved wood skull has glass eyes with markers in the retina indicating the minutes in one eye and hours in the other, has nice original paint. There is some damage to the bottom and was once mounted on a black base.Still looks great on its own!it is missing the winder, but it is easily replaced at no real detriment to the piece. There are no cracks, chips, scratches or mars on the clock and it has
its original sticker on the base and beautiful collar around its neck. The clock
runs well and as usual with these clocks the accuracy is sometimes challenging
to adjust. I’ve found that sometimes
it’s accurate and other times it may run fast.
Some of the clocks made after 1950 were made of resin but this one is
wood so it was made between 1926 and 1949
