Glass Column and Dial Mystery Clock A later example of a Third Series Robert-Houdin glass dial mystery clock. The multi-layered glass dial is signed ‘Robert Houdin a Paris’ and has the typical arrow shaped hand. It stands on a column of concentric glass tubes that is supported by a red felt and ebonized base. Decorative bronze mounts serve as the connections between the multiple mysteries. The time and strike movement is housed in the base, has a balance platform and is wound and set out the back of the felt covered base. Untested. No guarantees on function.<b

eBay Up for auction is a Seth Thomas Sonora Chime No. 2000 ca. 1915 Running 8 Bell Project.The clock measures 16 X 12 X 9.The 8 day time and strike movement is stamped 89X and the rear chime movement is stamped 104E.The clock seems to run well, all the springs wind and hold tension.It only strikes when manually engaged by lifting the count arm or raising a lever.I took the chime unit out and it sluggishly strikes.the first hammer doesn’t want to work.This model plays both Westminster and Whittington Chimes.It’s missing the right side column and a column holder and a front piece of wood and an indicator hand that I know of possibly more?This model doesn’t come around often and is seldom seen. I’ve found 2 auction records for this model and the last one sold in 2022 @ Schmitt & Horans for $3400 Hopefully someone will want to restore this clock so I won’t have to part it out.Brand new this clock sold for $870.00, probably a small fortune in 1915.Examine the pictures, they are a large part of the description Winning bidder to pay shipping, insurance with signature confirmation. RARE CARTIER GILT-BRONZE & SCARLET ENAMEL PORTICO MANTEL CLOCK8-day movement striking hours and half-hours on delicate bellThis prestigious showpiece is from my personal collection of vintage and antique clocks curated since the early 1970s. Time has come for the stunning Neoclassical clock to reach an appreciative new mantel.From mid-19th century Paris founding, Maison Cartier has enjoyed a worldwide reputation as purveyor of "ne plus ultra" jewelry and timepieces. Cartier's innovative "mystery" clocks of the 1920s and noteworthy examples introduced throughout the last century are immediately recognized by connoisseurs of high-end horology. The base of this imposing clock carries the "H L" hallmark of Hour Lavigne. By the early 1950s, French manufacturing and economy had largely recovered from the devastating aftermath of WWII. Long established luxury clock manufacturer Charles Hour merged with Maurice Lavigne, forming Hour Lavigne. The firm produced the most exclusive and costly French clocks with mechanical movements. Gilt-bronze models featured unique designs often embellished with hand engraving and enameling. NOTE: The "Cartier, New York" clock came to me for potential restoration almost 25 years ago! The owner had taken the clock and a similar model to Cartier in San Francisco for servicing. It was subsequently sent to New York. Included with the photographs are statements from Cartier International Service. The charge for proposed movement and case restoration of the "4 column gold tone clock mech. - (reddish gold tone on columns and at center)" was $1,200. On March 3, 2000 Cartier placed the retail value of the portico clock at $5,000. 10" high, 8.45" wide, 3.9" deep7.5 lbs! NOTE: In November of 2024, the movement was fully disassembled, ultrasonically cleaned and rinsed, mainsprings removed from barrels to clean and grease, checked for wear, reassembled, lubricated with high-grade Swiss oils and bench tested. The massive case was taken completely apart to clean and secure. Meticulous restoration ensures reliable operation for years. 52" German Gustav Becker Grand Sonnerie 3 Weight Vienna Regulator Wall Clock
Here is an excellent 3 weight driven regulator wall clock. This clock is 52-1/4" tall and 17-3/8" wide. This clock has grand sonnerie striking. This feature is also known as blind man's clock. It has a full carved column on each side of the front door.
