Antique French Crystal Regulator Style Mantle/Table Clock by ANSONIA Circa 1900
Own a BEAUTIFULLY executed nearly perfect crystal regulator clockwork made with green onyx stone named “Prince” & made by Ansonia Clockmaker (see stamped name on rear brass plate); 8-day wind two train suspension spring movement inserted into a crystal regulator clock case containing clear beveled glass on all 4 sides (see photo for small glass chip on rear door); each case corner is adorned with gilded flat columns; green onyx wraps the bottom & forms the roof (note that there is a minor chip in the onyx on 2 of the base sides – see photos); gilded decorations at each corner; 4 gilded brass finials along with a green onyx stone topper complete the roof design; sits upon 4 gilded brass curved flat feet; all gilded decorations assuming Victorian Neo Classical influences. High quality enameled 3 ¼” diameter faceplate contains Roman numerals accented with a visible open escarpment; a small FAST/SLOW adjustment gear centered above numerals; adjustable gilded faux mercury pendulum; front hinged gilded brass door frame fitted with clear beveled glass which closes against the gilded door frame surround; the backside contains a rear door with clear beveled glass set into a gilded door frame as a friction fit; the floor mounted steel coil gong resonates beautifully within the clock cavity allowing the sound to softly escape the clock case; both movement & gong assemblies are mounted securely to case. Chiming correctly & running on time. ANSONIA winding key included. This clock comes from my collection & has been running successfully for several years with no difficulties. It has been tested prior to this offering. Clock set-up to establish the correct “beat” is paramount to the clock’s operation, accomplished through placement & leveling (sometimes with rotating the movement while in the clock case). eBay Seth Thomas "Giant" Beehive Gothic Sonora Chime No.16 Mantle Clock Seth Thomas "Giant" Beehive Gothic Sonora Chime No.16 Mantle Clock Description This clock was manufactured by The Seth Thomas Clock Company of Thomaston, Connecticut. This is a Giant Sonora Chime. It measures 18" high, 12" wide and weighs 18lbs. The case is a beautiful walnut and is in excellent condition. 7.5" metal dial with black Arabic numerals, Seth Thomas Spade hands, and with Seth Thomas Sonora Chime and Made in the U.S.A. stamped on it. There are 3 winding holes and a time adjuster under the hands. Beveled glass and a brass bezel. There is a silent feature on the right side of the clock, which you can turn the chimes off. #89n movement which powers the timekeeping, and a 90a movement which powers the Sonora Chimes and has a Seth Thomas pendulum. Both movements have been completely cleaned and overhauled and the clock is being sold in guaranteed running condition. Please see video below images for demonstration of the chime sound. Sonora Chimes was created by the Sonora Chime Company in New York. In 1912 Seth Thomas purchased the rights to them, did a little modifications to fit clocks, and started making them. This clock despite being big has a beautiful sound to it. eBay Seth Thomas Sonora Chime 4 Bell Adamantine Mantle Clock Seth Thomas Sonora Chime 4 Bell Adamantine Mantle Clock Description This clock was made by The Seth Thomas Clock Company of Thomaston, Connecticut. This is a beautiful brownish red Adamantine that is in good condition. Seth Thomas bought the rights to use Adamantine in 1881. It is made of a celluloid veneer that is glued onto the wood. Perfect porcelain 4.5" dial that has fancy Arabic numerals in black. The dial has Seth Thomas, Slow/Fast adjuster, Sonora Chime, and a lever (to silent the chimes), with Seth Thomas spade hands. Cute little brass ball feet, brass bezel, and the Seth Thomas pendulum that has a boy on a fence. There are 2 movements inside this clock. The first one is for the 8 day time and strike #89, every half hour it dings on 4 bells and on the hour counts out the hour. The second movement is for the Sonora chimes, #90. Seth Thomas bought the rights to use Sonora chimes in his clocks in 1912 from the Sonora Chime Company. After "tinkering" so they would fit in clocks he began to use them. Inside is a wooden box that holds the 4 bells and acts as a sounding box for the bells. There are 5 hammers, 4 are for the Westminster chimes on the quarter hour and the 5th hammer strikes the hour. Both movements have been completely cleaned and overhauled and the clock is being sold in guaranteed running condition. Please see video below images for demonstration of the chime sound. Restored Antique Ingraham Mantel Clock circa 1900 Original Movement
This Ingraham “Regent” Mantle clock was in production from 1891 through 1908. The movement has no date stamp, which would date it before 1900. "Regent" is the model name. This clock was made in the United States of America. Movement has been completely overhauled and is in working condition. Movement taken apart, ultrasonically cleaned, repairs made as needed, new springs installed, lubricated and tested. Includes key and pendulum. Cabinet has been refinished. Ornaments (lion sides and feet) have been refinished. It is in very nice condition. Please see photos as I have tried to show the condition of the cabinet. This clock was well taken care of over the years and has been refinished. There are dents and some alligatoring to the finish. The dial is the original brass dial used during the 1890s on Regent models. Label on rear is a replica. It measures approx. 17" wide x 11” hi x 7 1/4” deep. Clock gongs once on the half hour and gongs the hour on the hour. This is an 8-day strike clock and it has to be wound weekly. The pendulum and a key are included. Thanks for your interest. This clock comes with instructions on how to set the beat if necessary. Plus, I give other info on troubleshooting if needed. I have collected dials over the years and I reproduce my own dials with their names and logos as they were originally produced. I do clean the clock cases and take them apart. Some have minor damage from the years and others need some major repairs. I use the original finish if possible and match the original if necessary. Many of these clocks have small dents or flaws from when they were made or have been damaged at some time over the years. I repair these damaged spots and don’t just paint over them. Some of my clock cabinets have not been restored. When I come across ones that have been taken care of over the years, I will only restore the movement and dial as necessary and clean / polish the cabinets. The engravings of the black clocks are restored by hand. This is time consuming and takes patience. I do this myself and find it really adds to the beauty of these clocks. My restorations include the cabinet, dial, movement, ornaments, painted or natural wood finish, engravings, case insides, and re-assembly as needed for a solid clock.
