Meissen china, also known as Meissen porcelain, is a type of porcelain that has been prized for its exquisite craftsmanship, intricate designs, and high quality since the early 18th century. Produced in the town of Meissen, Germany, this fine porcelain has been coveted by collectors and enthusiasts of fine tableware for centuries. In this blog post, we'll take a closer look at the history of Meissen china, its characteristics and its enduring appeal.Meissen china historyMeissen china was first produced in 1708, when Augustus II the Strong, Elector of Saxony and King of Poland, established the Royal Porcelain Factory in Meissen. The factory was created with the aim of producing porcelain that rivaled the finest Chinese porcelain, which was highly prized by European aristocrats at the time. The first Meissen porcelain pieces were blue and white, and featured designs inspired by Chinese and Japanese ceramics. The factory soon expanded its production to include polychrome pieces, which were painted with a range of colors and elaborate designs.Over the years, Meissen porcelain became increasingly popular among European aristocrats, who commissioned custom pieces for their dining tables and salons. The factory also produced figurines, which were highly collectible and often displayed in cabinets of curiosities. Meissen porcelain became synonymous with luxury and refinement, and its popularity continued to grow throughout the 18th and 19th centuries Meissen china china is characterized by its delicate, translucent body, which is created by firing a mixture of kaolin, feldspar, and quartz at high temperatures. The porcelain is then glazed and decorated with a range of techniques, including hand painting, transfer printing, and gilding. Meissen porcelain is known for its intricate designs, which often feature elaborate floral patterns, mythological scenes, and historical figures. (Condition: Pre-Owned)

RARE 1920's Antique WW1 Polish Blue Army Clock by J.J. Uszynski
Dad's Junk Closet RARE 1920's Antique WW1 Polish Blue Army Clock by J.J. Uszynski Manufactured by J.J. Uszynski in New Jersey, with a great Art Deco / Nouveau style all around. This clock was made to honor Haller's Blue Army. Across the top of the clock is the Cross of Polish Soldiers from America (Krzyz Zolnierzy Polskich z Ameryki). The cross was instituted by order of Jozef Pilsudski in 1920 to honor Polish volunteers from Canada and the United States who came to Poland to defend the newly emerged Republic. It has a brass plated metal case with a fantastic art deco / art nouveau design packed with details and symbolism. The clock seems to run fine. I wound it up about 30 minutes ago and it’s been ticking away. Front glass is in great condition, but there is some wear and scratches around various surfaces of the clock. I did not clean it for concern a collector may not like that. If you would like any additional pics just ask. FREE SHIPPING! Payment Shipping Buyer will receive the item(s) pictured. RARE Antique WW1 Polish Blue Army Clock J.J. Uszynski NJ Art Deco Nouveau Read
eBay This listing is for a RARE Antique WW1 Polish Clock By J.J. Uszynski in New Jersey, with a great Art Deco / Nouveau style all around. This clock was made to honor Haller's Blue Army: Across the top of clock is the Cross of Polish Soldiers from America (Krzyz Zolnierzy Polskich z Ameryki). The cross was instituted by order of Jozef Pilsudski in 1920 to honor Polish volunteers from Canada and the United States who came to Poland to defend the newly emerged Republic. It has a brass plated metal case with a fantastic art deco / art nouveau design packed with details and symbolism. More on the symbols in the next paragraph. It is in close to working condition, see further down for exact details. With minimal tinkering it would likely work great. It is an excellent and very hard to find item for collectors, display / decor, gifting, and more. On the clock you can see a bronze arrow / cross with flames between the arms which is holding the names of the places where American volunteers were present; SZAMPANIA (Champagne) : LWOW (Lviv) : WOLYN (Volyn : POMORZE (Pomerania). The arms themselves bear the following inscription SWOIM ZOLNIERZOM Z AMERYKI OSWOBO DZONA POLSKA - (The Liberated Poland To Her Soldiers From America). The Haller Army, the Blue Army (Blekitna Armia), and also as the Polish Legion in France. The Blue Army (they wore horizon blue French uniforms) were the Polish-American contribution to the forces on the western front in WWI. Made up of volunteers of recent Polish immigrants to the United States, they initially fought under the French, but they later fought in the name of Poland and for the ultimate goal of Polish independence. By the war's end this force was officially recognized as the independent Polish Army, led by General Jozef Haller. It is in good condition for its age. It currently is not steadily running, sometimes when moved it will start up but stops shortly after. I suspect the reason for this is a bad timing spring, if you look in the photos it has a replaced pin to hold the tension, and it looks like it was damaged in the process. It really wants to run, and I believe with the mere replacement of that spring, it would function perfectly. The minute hand is included but detached, I have not tried to re-attach it for fear of causing damage, the hour hand may be loose too. I have not seen any other missing or damaged components. Case has some wear in places, but a nice patina. I have not cleaned it overly to avoid damage to the patina and plating. The paper or early cardboard face has some damage, it looks like it got wet at one point. It would likely still work fine, but could be replaced. Thank you for your consideration, reasonable offers aways considered. Comes as shown, please see photos for details and measurements. Comes packed with care insured in shipment. (Condition: Parts Only)
