Twin Fusee Sterling Silver bracket clock 1923
Sterling Silver cased twin fusee clock, hallmarked at London in 1923 and the case made by William Comyns (& Sons). (Likely his sons, as William died in 1916). The movement is English, a substantial twin chain fusee, striking the hours on a gong. It has the London style pendulum that adjusts easily without removal. Green silk panels were added as seen in the last photo.The clock was destined for America and the dial is signed by the retailer Black Starr and Frost. (Founded in 1810 they are renowned to be America's first jeweler on Fifth Avenue.) This would have been a very costly item in its day.This is a substantial clock, weighing nearly 14 Lbs. (The Sterling value alone is approaching $2000.) It stands 16" tall by 9" wide and 6" deep, with a 5" dial. It comes with a brass English style bow key that was probably originally silver plated.I will only ship this with the movement separated to ensure safe transit. Unique Chelsea Ships Bell for Theodore Starr N.Y. Heavy Bronze Clock CRUSTACEANS
This is a unique, possible one of a kind Chelsea. The silver metal dial measures 6 inches in diameter and is marked "THEODORE B. STARR, INC, NEW YORK" and "ships bell". The case is bronze, and measures 29" x 13" x 6". It is very heavy (40 or 50 pounds I would guess), and has no dents. It has applied to the front a small crab, a large crab, and a large shell. These are all patinated bronze. The movement is complete. I used to use this clock years ago, but it started to stop and stick. So you will need to have it cleaned or serviced for it to be reliable. The movement serial number is 98932 (Circa 1915-1916). The bottom wood panel under the clock is mahogany! Really beautiful. Buyer pays shipping, $85 in USA. No foreign shipping! Welch & Co Eight day spring driven wall regulator “Sinico” in a black walnut case, from around 1875 - 1880. Fresh from a local estate. Has a couple of tags on the inside of the case, for a jeweler Delamater in Wichita, Ks, for September 1903, and Scheer & Son, which I found an ad for in the Richmond, Va. newspaper for 1916. Another label is for Rudd & Son, and while they are no longer in business, it seems that address is still a watch and clock repair shop under a different name. This is a Rare Antique Working 1916 CHELSEA WWI U.S. SHIPPING BOARD 'AFB Lido' U.S. Military Brass Porthole Ship Deck Wall Clock, Made By The Chelsea Clock Company Boston Mass. USA. The Clock is Attached to a Walnut Wood Back Board and Measures approx. 10" in Diameter with The Wood Back, or The Clock Itself Measures approx. 7 3/4" in Diameter, with a 5 1/2" Dial. The Case is Made of Heavy Brass and Has a 'Screw Off' Bezel, with Porthole Style Design. The Dial is the Original Silver Metal Dial with Arabic Numerals, and Seconds Sweep Sub Dial, Signed "U.S. Shipping Board" and "Chelsea Clock Co. Boston USA". The Dial is Marked with Engraved Scratched Lettering "AFB Lido". It Has a Chelsea 8 Day Brass Mechanical Wind-Up Spring Driven 'Time Only' Movement with Balance Wheel and Lever Escapement, Signed "Chelsea Clock Co. Boston USA 127482". Antique Seth Thomas Parlor No. 3 Double Dial Calendar Clock
Antique Seth Thomas Parlor No. 3 Double Dial Calendar Clock in very nice condition. The movement looks like it was recently serviced, and even retains the original Geneva stops on the winding arbors. These are usually gone, removed by frustrated owners or clockmakers who can't figure how to set them. The case has very nice mahogany veneer, with no chips that I can see. The lower movement looks to have really nice rollers, possibly the papers are replaced. The dials both have minor paint loss, which could easily be touched up if you want. The clock runs, and the calendar changes. Of course, I can't guarantee running condition after shipping, I have not tried to adjust the clock to change at midnight, that would have to be done after shipping anyway. The clock has both the original label inside the door, and the "Don't oil any part of the calendar" label in the back. The case is stencilled on the back with the date of manufacture. 1916L. Normally the number is backwards with the letter standing for the month, in this case, December. Tis time, I'm not sure how to read the number. Maybe just 1916? maybe an expert will chime in. No reserve, no returns. Local pickup is preferred. (Condition: Pre-Owned)
