Sterling Silver cased twin fusee clock, hallmarked at London in 1923 and the case made by William Comyns (& Sons). (Likely his sons, as William died in 1916). The movement is English, a substantial twin chain fusee, striking the hours on a gong. It has the London style pendulum that adjusts easily without removal. Green silk panels were added as seen in the last photo.The clock was destined for America and the dial is signed by the retailer Black Starr and Frost. (Founded in 1810 they are renowned to be America's first jeweler on Fifth Avenue.) This would have been a very costly item in its day.This is a substantial clock, weighing nearly 14 Lbs. (The Sterling value alone is approaching $2000.) It stands 16" tall by 9" wide and 6" deep, with a 5" dial. It comes with a brass English style bow key that was probably originally silver plated.I will only ship this with the movement separated to ensure safe transit. (Clear instructions for re-assembly will be included.) (Condition: Refurbished)
