The Buffalo, Rochester and Pittsburgh Railway Wall Clock, Ca 1885
eBay The Buffalo, Rochester and Pittsburgh Railway thrived on the Transporting of heavy freight, primarily Pennsylvania coal, and its passenger service was characterized as "second to none".[23] The first passenger run took place on the Rochester and State Line Railroad on its 15 September 1874 run from Rochester to Le Roy. The last was on 15 October 1955, when the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad ended its Buffalo - Pittsburgh service. Although the BR&P was not a passenger line, it put a first-class effort into the passenger service that it provided the public. The locomotives used represented the best available, as did the care given these engines, leading to an enviable record for on-time completion of trips.I have a copy of a FURNITURE AND FIXTURES sheet where they show Serial numbers on all chairs ,tables, stoves, clocks Etc.....This clock has a Serial # M100, stamped on the inside backboard, and on the top behind the dial, shown in pics. The Railroads bought their clocks All the plaques and signs, maps, etc. shown, come with the clock. The one that is in a wood frame with old original wavy glass is late 1800's direct from the maker. I see a lot of wall clocks that are said to be Railroad style of clocks. If they are not owned by a Railroad, they are just a wall clock. Original true Railroad clocks are very rarely seen as this one is.The Railroad bought their clocks Direct from the maker, as this one was Seth Thomas. Then Seth Thomas does not put their label in the clock. It is papered inside with a felt like paper, and again, no labelThis Seth Thomas "World" model that is time only and will run about 23 days per wind. This one doesn't have the over wind stops, so try not to over wind.If it stops, I wind each side around 16 half turns. You'll get the hang of it.All the plaques and signs, maps, etc. shown, come with the clock. The one that is in a wood frame and back, with old original wavy glass is late 1800's If you want it fully insured, let me know so I can give the cost.I think UPS is $100 to start. On Nov-14-23 at 12:54:31 PST, seller added the following information:If thinking about this rare true RR clock. Think about the time you last saw one? For most, never. (Condition: Pre-Owned)

Mathurin Moreau 29” tall French museum clock 1800s Louis Boname Seloncourt
eBay For auction is a truly rare spectacular clock, nearly three feet tall by the famous artist, MATHURIN "Math" MOREAU. The clock movement is by the famous French clock maker: LOUIS BONAME (BESANÇON) SELONCOURT. You can see the stamp on the clock in one of the photographs. The dial protected by original glass door windows Moreau s signature appears in at least two places, once on each ladies' dresses (photos). I purchased this clock from a collector in Prague around 20 years ago and have owned it ever since. There is also a plate on the front “M. Moreau”. This clock is entitled "TRIOMPHE L'AMOUR". It is truly spectacular and stands over 29" tall and is very heavy. The detail work is exquisite. The back of this clock is more decorative and detailed than most clocks fronts. The glass and porcelain face are in excellent condition. The clock works and chimes a lovely bell sound. When I purchased the clock I was told it had been featured in a well-known palace in Germany. Unfortunately, I've since forgotten its name. There is a stamp on the back of the clock that reads as best as I can tell “Hors Concours” which I understand to be an expression from the late 19th century meaning “unrivaled ” This museum caliber clock will be the centerpiece of any home, whether your home is the Trump Tower or a more humble abode. The clock is in excellent condition for a clock that is well over a hundred years old and never restored. A true collectors piece. The Moreau family sculptor dynasty begins with Jean Baptiste Moreau, who was born in Dijon, France at the end of the 18th century. Jean Baptiste had three sons who followed in his footsteps, they were Auguste, Mathurin and Hyppolyte François The legacy continued with Auguste’s sons, Louis Auguste and Hyppolyte Francois. Members of the Moreau family often studied at the famous École des Beaux-Arts in Paris.Mathurin received many awards and specialized more in large statues - like you find in a town square, and his work followed the academic style. Many of Mathurin’s sculptures can be found around Paris, including L’Océanie, which is located in the Musée d’Orsay courtyard. Mathurin also won first place at the Paris World Fair in 1855 for his Fontaine de Tourny, which is now located in Quebec.Mathurin Moreau was born at Côte-d’Or on November the 18th, 1822, the son of Jean Baptiste Moreau, who was also famous sculptor in Paris. Mathurin Moreau studied at the École des Beaux Arts from 1841 where he was a pupil of Ramey and Dumont. He won awards at the Paris Salon. In 1885 his achievement was recognized by his becoming an Officer of the Legion d’Honneur. In 1897, Mathurian received the medal of honor for the Monument of Joigneaux. Its interesting to note that Auguste Rodin, also a sculptor in Paris at this time (born in 1840 and died in 1917) never received any such awards during his lifetime. In fact, it wasn’t until the 50th anniversary of Rodin’s death, in 1967, that he was finally awarded with the public tribute to Preiss. Mathurian died five years before Rodin. Mathurian Moreau sculpted many famous public statues in bronze around Paris and Europe, including L'Océanie at the Musee D’Orsay, La Chapelle Montmartre Parmentier in Cologne, the Sénat et jardin du Luxembourg, and a larger than life size figure of Marguerite d’Anjou. The two fountains of the Tourny place in Bordeaux (1857) were decorated with four Moreau sculptures. One of them is on display at Clemenceau place with Soulac-on-Sea. Mathurin’s son, Louis Auguste Moreau also became a successful sculptor. Other famous works of Mathurin Moreau are the Elegy, the Fairy with the flowers, the Ropemaking machine, Prima Vera and the Monument of Joigneaux, for which he received the medal of honor. Mathurin Moreau becomes mayor of the XIXème district of Paris. After its death a street in the City of Paris was named after him (Rue de Mathurin Moreau). He was made mayor of the XIXe arrondissement, Paris, and in 1912 had a street named in his honor. His other works include. · Cologne, limestone, 1865, façade de la gare du Nord · Nymphe fluviale, the Place du The tre Français Paris (1874) · L'Océanie, from the Exposition Universelle (1878),Musée d'Orsay courtyard · Zenobe Gramme, bronze, Musée des Arts et Métiers courtyard, Paris · Monument de Joigneaux, for which he received the medal of honor, Salon of 1897 · Tomb of Zenobe Gramme, Père Lachaise Cemetery, Paris, circa 1901 · Lord Strathcona Fountain, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, unveiled 1 July 1909 SOLD AS IS. Rare 1876 sargent & greenleaf model 2.4 Safe Time Lock STL Antique Clock Diebold
Rare 1876 sargent & greenleaf model 2.4 Safe Time Lock STL Antique Clock Diebold key also numbered..... time lock is serializes with 250 found a nice article on this model online, copied some of the info.....guy saying theres only 3 of the 2.4's known to still exist.... this may be one of the three or a fourth one.....info from website below...... not all my info.....his is a different number. This Sargent & Greenleaf Safe-Time-Lock (STL) is a model 2.4 according to [1] p. 152, and only three other STLs like this one are known to have survieved. According to [1], between 150 and 200 STLs of the model 2.4 were made in 1876 and into the beginning of 1877. [1] refers to the wonderful book “American Genius, Nineteenth Century Bank Locks and Time Locks, by John Erroll & David Erroll”, published in 2006. The photography is outstanding, the research and descriptions of STL’s meticulous; the book is one of my favorit books (and I have a lot of books!) You can buy one on Amazon or AbeBooks for as little as $25.Sargent & Greenleaf introduced his first STL in 1874. The first STL sold on June 11, 1874. Only two of the model 1 survived, ([1] p.148). Sargent & Greenleaf made its own clockwerk movements unlike other manufacturers of STLs. The model 2.1 followed with a power reserve of 46 hours but with wheels showing time up to 48 hours. The model 2.1 was replaced after a short life with model 2.2. Only one example of the model 2.1 survived, it is the one with the serial number 66.Sargent & Greenleaf’s earliest patent application dates to July 12, 1875 and was promptly issued eight days later on July 20, 1875 with the number 165,878 (see pictrues above.) Unlike other STL makers, the early Sargent & Greenleaf STLs have a gravity operated Bolt.Model 2.3 is recognized as having as an improvement “the fixed-arbor dials with dials attached at the front by a screw and washer assembly, making accurate servicing easier”, [1] p. 152. See picture 14 above. There are four examples known to have survived of the model 2.3.The model offered here is a model 2.4; about 150 to 200 were made in 1876 and into the beginning of 1877. Three STLs of this model were known to exist before the lock offered here was discovered. The STL offered here has the serial number 496 stamped into the case in two places, obove the lock as shown in picture #15, underneath the rollerbolt as shown in picture #16, and on the back of the back-plate.The model 2.3 had rough leaf-and-vine engraving on the movement’s front plate which is no longer present on the model 2.4. The number 391 is stamped into the back of the front plate, see picture # 17. According to [1], “added engraved nickel-plating to the rollerbolt was applied”. The nickel-plating on the STL offered here differs. The model 2.4 pictured in [1] p.154 shows not only the rollerbolt nickel plated, all the members beneath the movements are nickel-plated; the hook-lever, rollerbolt tail rollerbolt, spindle, and back-plate, everything is nickel plated The model 2.4 offered here shows a more interesting scheme; the hook-lever is nickel-plated, the rollerbolt-tail is gold-plated, the rollerbolt is nickel-plated, the spindel gold-plated, and the back-plate nickel-plated. In this authors opinion, a much more visually attractive finish. The model 2.5 followed whith hinges inside the case; none of the model 2.5 STLs is known to have survived. The model 2.6 featured a redisigned rollerbolt refered to as cello-bolt due to its shape as a cello.Sargent & Greenleaf’s price for one of the model 2 STL was a hefty $400; more than $9,000 in today’s value of the US$. The safe itself was often less expensive than the STL.This STL is rather large and heavy; the case measures 8.25 by 6.5 by 2.75 inches and weighs 17.1 lb. The STL still retains his windup key (see pictrure #13) and a key for the door-lock (not original to the lock).selling as pictured.more than welcome to pick up at shop in butler pa & save shipping. 7324 cg home (Condition: Brand New)

Rare Antique 1880s Fowler Clock Work Wind Up Shoo Fly Fan Fly Chaser Read WORKS
eBay This listing is for an extremely rare working Antique 1880s Fowler Clock Work Wind Up “Shoo Fly” Victorian Fan Fly Chaser. It is an excellent piece for collectors of hard to find high quality antiques, display / decor / use, gifting, and more!Popular on tabletops and mercantile counters in the post civil war years, these ingenious wonders are rather hard to come by these days. This one is in great condition. It has its original paint, with very little wear for its age. It appears to be working as well. It is wound, and when the lever is moved, it still spins. It appears to spin a little quickly, but it works nonetheless. I am not sure if it has some limiter that is not slowing it, as I have not opened it up at all to avoid causing damage. It otherwise appears to function as intended. Fowler’s mechanical fan, commonly called a “shoo-fly fan,” was a popular brand of these wind-up devices. Patented in December of 1863 and improved in 1874, this model featured a removable key (original key is not present and therefore not included) that slides into the cast iron base to wind the internal mechanisms. When the lever is released the fan rod rotates. The breeze created is minimal, but the moving shadows of the cloth fins are enough to keep flies from alighting long (cloth fans not present and not included). This clockwork fly fan comes from a massive estate collection, and was extremely well cared for in a temperature controlled room. Please check back this weekend & next week for multiple other antique & unique clocks & clockwork items I will be listing!Thank you for your consideration, reasonable offers are always considered. Please see photos for details & measurements, comes as is. Fan blades / hardware and key not included as stated. With any clockwork piece, this one may require set up and/or adjustment after shipment, however rest assured it will be packaged with extreme care. (Condition: Pre-Owned)
