John Scudder Westfield NJ Inlaid Cherry Tall Case Clock C. 1800 Eight Day
New Jersey Federal Inlaid Cherry Tall Case Clock C. 1800, the case labelled by John Scudder of Westfield” [MADE] AND SOLD BY/ JOHN SCUDDER/ CABINET-MAKER,/ WESTFIELD, 90 in. high, 18 ¾ in. wide, 9 7/8 in. deep. The broken arch scroll top bonnet with inlaid rosette terminals and inlaid center plinth with three original turned finials all with a contrasting inlaid circular band around the center. The glazed door opens to a painted iron dial from the Wilson, Birmingham foundry with floral corner spandrel decoration and a moving moon dial with a country scene, sailing ship, and two moon faces.

eBay The Buffalo, Rochester and Pittsburgh Railway thrived on the Transporting of heavy freight, primarily Pennsylvania coal, and its passenger service was characterized as "second to none".[23] The first passenger run took place on the Rochester and State Line Railroad on its 15 September 1874 run from Rochester to Le Roy. The last was on 15 October 1955, when the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad ended its Buffalo - Pittsburgh service. Although the BR&P was not a passenger line, it put a first-class effort into the passenger service that it provided the public. The locomotives used represented the best available, as did the care given these engines, leading to an enviable record for on-time completion of trips.I have a copy of a FURNITURE AND FIXTURES sheet where they show Serial numbers on all chairs ,tables, stoves, clocks Etc.....This clock has a Serial # M100, stamped on the inside backboard, and on the top behind the dial, shown in pics.The Railroads bought their clocks All the plaques and signs, maps, etc. shown, come with the clock. The one that is in a wood frame with old original wavy glass is late 1800's direct from the maker. I see a lot of wall clocks that are said to be Railroad style of clocks. If they are not owned by a Railroad, they are just a wall clock. Original true Railroad clocks are very rarely seen as this one is.The Railroad bought their clocks Direct from the maker, as this one was Seth Thomas. Then Seth Thomas does not put their label in the clock.It is papered inside with a felt like paper, and again, no labelThis Seth Thomas "World" model that is time only and will run about 23 days per wind.This one doesn't have the over wind stops, so try not to over wind.If it stops, I wind each side around 16 half turns. You'll get the hang of it.All the plaques and signs, maps, etc. shown, come with the clock. eBay Up for sale is a rare William Thornhill & Co. of London 8 day clock from the mid to late 19th century. The case is expertly hand carved out of a stunning solid piece of oak in the form of a Chinese warrior. The movement is of French origin and an 8 day wind dating 1850's. Marked "VAP" (Velonge a Paris) indicates the craftsman was living in Paris in in the mid 1800's, trade mark 'Brevette" used by French makers such as Japy. The movement has been properly maintained, serviced and because of that, is in 100% working condition keeping time flawlessly over the course of 8 days on a single full wind. All pieces are original with nothing replaced, I just had this clock's movement fully dismantled, cleaned and oiled by one of the best clock makers in the South East United States. The dial is in good condition with minor stress cracks with mild staining where the screws are inserted caused from being over tightened at some point and a crack that runs along the bottom horizontally across the face. The dial is fully intact as the crack does not run through.The wood carved case is just visually stunning as you can see from the photos which accurately depicts its unique beauty. The height of the entire clock is approximately 14 inches tall, base measures 9 x 4 inches and the diameter of the blue willow dial is 7 inches.On the front of the base is a silver etched plaque that read, "Xmas 1880" not only dating it, but indicating the fact it was given as a Christmas gift by a wealthy individual. On the reverse of the base is a brass tag that reads "W. Thornhill & Co. 144 New Bond St.". Under the face of the dial in the warriors robes is carved "Heathen Chinee" which may be some type of commemorative to the poem by Bret Harte.Their are two repairs to the wood case one to the warrior's right hand which has been re-attached (old repair) as seen in the 10th photo provided and a piece of his right mustache which appears to be an old repair. The case and movement are both in overall just stunning condition! This is an incredible opportunity to own such a rare clock from the scarcely seen maker William Thornhill & Co. of London.William Thornill & Co. became famous for the cutlery during the 18th century as they supplied the royal family with their dining wear. Their clocks are rarely seen as their held in private collections and in the ownerships of museums. Two Thornhill & Co's clocks have been referenced to residing in the ownership of the royal family in Windsor Castle!This clock has been held in a private collection for the last 60 years and this is its first time available to the market. To my knowledge this has never been seen or published in any catalogue or reference material to date. At some time in it's long life some one shortened the feet to fit a particular room. No other changes or damages noticed. 20" tall x 10 3/4" wide x 7" deep. Robert Philp is recorded as a maker of musical and astronomical clocks and watches and was working in London from 1755 to circa 1800. The calendar wheel moved to the forward date.

A really sweet understated tall cased Scottish clock that only stands 6'3" and will fit nicely in a modern house. The hand painted dial is tastefully ornamented with birds and flowers and contains a small working date dial as well as a seconds hand. Oval side windows in the hood allow a glimpse of the original eight day movement that strikes an iron bell at every hour.
