Chauncey Jerome Ogee Shelf Clock Reverse Painting on Glass c1840-1850 New Haven, CTFor Parts or RepairCASEA Superb mahogany veneered wooden case with ogee profile design. The single door is made up of two original glazed panels, the upper a clear glazed dial aperture and the bottom a reverse painted panel with peaches. Original door catch. There is a fine and complete advertising/instruction label pasted to the inside of the case for Connecticut Clock manufacturer Chauncey Jerome, who worked in New Haven, CT. The mahogany case is EXCELLENT with no losses to veneer!DIALBlack roman numerals (I-XII) painted on a presumably original white painted zinc dial with age related craquelure. There are (2) strips of clear scotch tape on upper corners of dial.MOVEMENTA weight driven thirty-hour, brass plated movement. Anchor escapement without pendulum, locking-plate striking on a wire gong. Works not examined. No weights or key. Clock will need parts and servicing, or used for parts.
