London father time automaton brass dial grandfather clock movement @ 1780 Rare!
London father time automaton brass dial grandfather clock movement @ 1780 Rare!
SOLD $588.45 Sold: Mar 30, 2025 on eBayOriginal Listing Description
London Georgian father time automaton brass dial grandfather clock movement only @ 1780. This rare original automated movement came together with the London flame mahogany Georgian case, set of 3 brass finials, brass clad weights, weight pulleys, and pendulum that I also have for sale this week. Please see my other listings for other Georgian period longcase grandfather clock items. This an excellent quality signed London father time automaton brass dial movement in very good original as found condition with excellent original patina. The 12" wide x 16 3/8" tall brass dial is in excellent original condition with no damage, and retains it's great original finish - the spandrels retain their original fire gilding, and the silvered surfaces are original and quite good. In the arch is a figure of Father Time, who rocks back and forth with the movement of the pendulum - very nice! Movement is original to the dial with no extra holes anywhere. Great original hands! The 5 pillar London movement is complete and intact with the exception of a missing 5th center pillar. The holes in the front and back plates are there, but the pillar has been removed, or was never installed. All of the calendar and strike/silent work are present and functional. It ticks and strikes with gentle finger pressure on each gear train, and the movement should go with oiling and adjusting, but it has not been serviced in decades, and should be serviced to be a reliable running movement. No rust to the steel parts at all. The original seatboard measures 13 1/2" wide x 4" deep x 3/4" thick, and retains it's two original seatboard bolts. Great original bell. Cable is old, but good. No pulleys. Please see the photos attached for the complete description, and ask any questions you may have. No reserve. I can combine multiple items to save on shipping cost. UPS ground shipping in the continental USA will be $50.00 (Condition: Pre-Owned)
