Vintage Starburst Wall Clock Mid Century Modern 1960s MCM Atomic Era 25 inches
SOLD $375.00 Sold: Jan 17, 2025 on eBayOriginal Listing Description
Vintage Starburst Wall Clock Mid Century Modern 1960s MCM Atomic Era 25 inches Sunburst styleMid Century Modern MCM Refurbished 25 inches diameter tip to tip. Metal frame with 8 solid walnut chevron cut rays framed in brass-tone metal. Stylized clock dial marked "Seth Thomas Photographed indoors (front views) and outdoors (reverse side views). The outdoors views of the dial didn't turn out well in the shadow on the garage door where I first did photography This clock was fitted (December 2024) with a new, USA manufactured TAKANE Quartz movement. I use the top of the line Takane with an off-on switch and thumb dial for setting the clock's delicate hands without needing to touch them. The new movement runs silently on a single AA battery (not included due to shipping regulations). You can only hear the movement operating by holding your ear next to it. This is a vintage clock that has been converted to a new Quartz movement. The metal frame and metal clock face shows toning from exposure and time. I did not try to polish the metal. There are some impressions here and there on the wood rays from stray pressure or contact. There is a round disturbance to the finish on the dial near the number 6 that is more or less noticeable depending on the angle of view and lighting. I show a closeup.Hanging aperture is on the reverse of the round clock frame as shown in the reverse-side views. At some time one or more exhausted batteries appear to have left their fluid marks on the metal surface, most visible inside the round pan that hangs flat against the wall and is unseen from the front view. I am certain this could be painted (I have done so on other clocks with this condition). If the weather were warmer I would have spray painted the interior of the pan for purely cosmetic reasons. I include several photos of these areas of disturbance for examination Shipping details:I am experienced with more than 10 years of stabilizing and packing vintage starburst clocks for safe transit. This clock will ship with the clock protectively stabilized in an inner custom-built package within a sturdy outer shipping box. I generally need parts of two days to build the inner stabilization package for such clocks, and generally ship on or within 3 days. Snow here in Pennsylvania may make that 4 days. If you need it shipped faster, please contact me before purchase so we can discuss arrangements, speeds, and shipping carriers to meet your needsShipping is calculated by ebay from my southeast Pennsylvania 19363 zip code to the buyer's based on the package size and weight. These starburst clocks when packed securely generally run between 9 and 12 pounds total with clock, inner package and outer carton ready to go.Offering UPS GROUND shipping and USPS GROUND ADVANTAGE shipping. USPS GROUND ADVANTAGE is slow but typically less costly for shipments west of the Mississippi River. However, if you require faster shipping speed and/or service, message me PRIOR TO PURCHASE so we can discuss possibilities Thank you for your interest in this listing. (Condition: Pre-Owned)
