An extraordinary & extremely rare Austrian Biedermeier Grand Sonnerie Striking large scale wall clock by Gustav Becker. High quality Austrian solid brass plate 8-day key wind three-train movement is a conventional weight driven type: right hand hinged front door frame contains a clear round glass revealing the clock face & below this panel is a clear glass rectangular panel revealing the weights & pendulum; glass appears to be original except for the left narrow side panel which is a replacement; a thumb latch is located on left side; the 6 ½” diameter cream colored porcelain dial contains black Roman numerals & between each numeral is a stenciled decorative motif: black steel hour & minute hands; clock dial contains a brass 4 ¼” center rosette whose design matches the pendulum bob & the 3 weights; atop the clock case is a curved wood hand carved crown along with a hand carved winged angel; bottom final is missing a small piece of wood trim on the left side; case contains some minor worm holes whereby treatment occurred prior to shipping to the USA; chimes on 2 long melodious steel rods; one chime rod strikes each quarter hour while the 2nd steel rod (of a different tone) strikes the hour; chime & movement assemblies are mounted securely to wood case which is stained walnut with an original shellac finish; leveling adjustment screws located at each side of the case bottom. Chiming correctly & running on time. Winding key included. APPROXIMATE DIMENSIONS: height 46” x width 17” x depth 10” (including the projecting angel ornamentation) I am NOT a retailer. I am an antique clock collector wishing to reduce my clock collection. This clock comes from my collection & has been running successfully for several years with no difficulties. It has been tested prior to this offering. Clock set-up to establish the correct “beat” is paramount to the clock’s operation, accomplished through placement & leveling (sometimes with rotating the movement while in the clock case). Additionally, temperature & humidity may affect it over time as well. Do not over wind a clock. Lastly, I cannot not guarantee the clock’s operation once shipped. I do take pride as a seller and buyer of these clocks. All shipments will be carefully wrapped in bubble wrap (key and pendulum wrapped separately) set tightly into box containing Styrofoam peanuts, tapped shut & then placed into a second shipping box (as may be necessary) filled with padding for added protection, taped shut on all sides. Please ask any questions regarding this clock; responses will be made as quickly as possible. No International shipping & No refunds. (Condition: Pre-Owned)
