Huge German W&H Winterhalder And Hofmeier 9 Gong Bracket Westminster Whit Clock
Huge German W&H Winterhalder And Hofmeier 9 Gong Bracket Westminster Whit Clock
SOLD $1,250.00 Sold: Jan 30, 2025 on eBayOriginal Listing Description
This is a large German Bracket clock that plays Westminster or Whittington on a nest of 9 coiled gongs. The movement is stamped W&H, and is of the highest quality with very thick plates and finely cut gears. Everything about this clock is heavy and extra sturdy. Cosmetically, the clock is in nice condition with typical antique wear. There may be a scuff or two, but nothing to mention specifically. The photos will be a good indication of condition. It appears that the clock is largely original. The hands appear to be correct with an original dial, finials, and thick beveled glass. I think a few of the dial screws have been replaced. Mechanically the clock is complete. The testing is very limited. The clock was allowed to run for a few hours and didn’t display any obvious issues. The clock chimed properly and the chime selector worked as it should. The cadence was a bit slow; maybe by design, but it more likely could use a cleaning and oiling. It seems to strike a minute or two after each quarter hour. It wasn’t tested for accuracy or run duration. The clock is being sold as found for restoration. This is a top of the line German chime clock and it’s priced to sell so don’t miss it. As far as shipping goes, I would much rather have a local pickup for cash. I may be inclined to accept an offer on the clock if this is an option. The clock can be shipped, but because of the weight of the movement case and gongs, it will have to be shipped in two separate boxes. One box will contain the case the other will contain the movement and nest of gongs or some combination of this. Expect some assembly. (Condition: Pre-Owned)
