1880's Gas Light Night Clock Period: circa 1885Maker: American Waltham Watch CoMaterial: Solid brass frame, opal glass dial, painted Arabic numerals, decorative handsFeatures: Stands on three brass feet with hinged back foot for sliding over a gas light fitting (gas fixture not included)Seven jewel watch movement (running strong but not recently cleaned)Opaque Opal glass dial Dimensions: 5.25" diameter, 3" rear extension for gas burner in good condition for its age. Some wear around the winding mechanism on back , and there is a crack in the face from between the 9 and the 10 extending towards the center of the face (through the left face screw hole) to the center, past the center and extending down between the 4 and 5. See close up pictures. I repaired the crack with G-S Hypo Cement which watchmakers use for watch crystal applications. I've used it for years on watches and with fine dinnerware. See pics. Note: I found a picture of one online attached to a wall mounted gas fixture as would have been in late 1800's. The wall mounted gas fixture is not included.This clock is a true collector's item that offers a unique blend of history and functionality. Buyer pays for shipping and insurance.
