This is a rare and lovely clock from the Ansonia Clock Company (New York) Royal Bonn Porcelain (Germany) mantel clock. It is the "La Corsica" model. Our family is the original owners of this clock. We believe this clock to be circa 1901.This clock movement (chime portion) strikes and chimes fine. However, the clock itself will not stay running. Our local clock shop believes a thorough cleaning and lubricating may get it up and running. We were informed that this is a seldom seen model with a "fifth foot" and with very intricate details Measurements are approximately 12" tall by 14" wide (base) 11" wide at the top and 5" deep.Beveled glass enclosure door with "Pie Crust" edging with Open Escapement. The off-white inner dial is approximately 4" diameter and the outer diameter of the dial is approximately 5.5".The porcelain body is in absolutely wonderful condition, note the beautiful gilded accents. These are frequently worn off from cleaning polishing over the years Important: Please note that the crazing of the porcelain is not considered damage. Flanked on each side by winged griffins. I was told that Ansonia had more than 4 Griffin type models/motifs. From the web: The Griffin is a mythological creature with the body, hind legs, and tail of a lion and the wings, front talons, and head of an eagle.
