VINTAGE FRENCH L'EPPE THE LIBERTY CLOCK. *PENDULUM NEEDS REPAIR *
SOLD $895.00 Sold: Oct 18, 2024 on eBayOriginal Listing Description
vintage L'Epee Liberty clock which was offered by the Franklin Mint in 1986. This is a used clock, but it has been well-preserved and comes with the original key. The clock was made to commemorate the rededication of the Statue of Liberty. It was part of a limited edition of only 2500 pieces. Number 1 was given to President Ronald Reagan, USA and number 2 was given to President Francois Mitterrand of France. This clock has a very low number of 150 of 2500. It was made by the Society Nouvelle L'Epee, out of solid brass, beveled glass, with a real French liquid mercury vials pendulum. This clock originally sold for 2,900 in 1986. This is a very rare find! The clock is in great condition. There are some scratches on the top and inside , and little dots of some sort. There is something wrong with the pendulum. Not sure what though. It plays the French National Anthem and the Star Spangled Banner. You use the key to wind it up and it plays on the hour you set it to or you push a lever on the side of the clock to hear it play. There is a loose piece that may be what the pendulum needs for it to work properly. It doesn’t keep time, but that may be because the pendulum doesn’t work right. (Condition: Pre-Owned)
