This is your chance to own a very nice clock from a highly respected clockmaker dating to the 1700s. Very old piece other clock collectors would be envious of! This antique clock from Nathaniel Hedge is a true treasure for collectors. Crafted in the late 1700s, it features a beautiful round shape with a brass face and brass movement and a wooden frame. The clock is mechanical and has a pendulum. It comes with 2 keys. One for the case and one for the clock. The clock was manufactured in the United Kingdom and is a great example of the antique artistry of the time period. This clock is a must-have for any clock enthusiast or lover of antique furniture Nathaniel Hedge III (1710–1795) was an English clockmaker based in Colchester in Essex.Hedge was apprenticed to the Colchester clockmaker John Smorthwaite in 1728 and married Smorthwaite's daughter Sarah in 1733. Hedge went on to become a prosperous and highly respected clockmaker Examples of Hedge's work can be found in the Mason collection at the Colchester Clock Museum.The clock face, casing, and movement all look original. Pretty near identical hands are shown on p. 88 of English Domestic Clocks, by Cescinsky and Webster. The clock does seem to work and tick when i swing the pendulum but as always i would recommend a good maintenance to have it in original working order and time keeping ability.
