Antique P H Mourey French Figural Spelter Clock Intact Beautiful 1866
Antique P H Mourey French Figural Spelter Clock Intact Beautiful 1866
SOLD $740.00 Sold: Sep 4, 2024 on eBayOriginal Listing Description
This is a beautiful P H Mourey French gilt spelter clock with a unique figural scene that I haven’t seen before. A woman is half reclining on a cushioned stool. One arm is extended and a bird is perched on her fingers. The ormalu has flowers, vases, vines- very extensive. What is amazing is everything is intact - nothing broken or missing.. This is signed on the back P H Mourey 66 ( indicating the clock was made in 1866. The clock was working before I carelessly broke the suspension spring while removing the pendulum. This is a quick easy fix for any clock repair person. I have the broken piece so an exact measurement can be obtained. It comes with tthe pendulum and key. The clock, which has an excellent porcelain dial face, will work fine once it new suspension spring is installed. A hammer strikes the bell on the hour and the half hour. There are areas of worn missing gilt, primarily on the woman. The rest of the clock has the gilt pretty much intact. This gilt is unique in that it has a normal sheen but on many of the raised surfaces the gilt has a very brilliant sheen. I was unable to capture this well in my photos but it makes the clock extremely eyecatching.. Other than the worn gilt ( which could certainly be refurbished) and the easily replaced suspension spring there aren’t any other issue with this truly beautiful clock. The clock is 17” long x 7 1/2” wide x 13 1/2” high. It weighs almost 14 lbs. and will be cushioned extensively and packed in an oversize box. I figure shipping costs to the farthest shipping point from my home in Venice, Fl. If you live closer I ALWAYS refund any excess shipping. This is a beautiful, unique 158 year old clock at a price that is well under the money. You’ll be VERY pleased! (Condition: Pre-Owned)
