This listing is for a beautiful Ansonia Figural Mantle Clock from the late 1800's. The porcelain dial is in excellent condition. The clock finish is a bronzed metal and is in very good condition. Please see pictures. This is original, no touch up. We do not have original keys, but will include winding keys.This clock received maintenance overhaul in 2012 and is still in good working order.The base measures 15-1/8 inches wide by 6-1/8 inches deep and the clock is 11 inches to the tallest point. The clock weighs 11-1/2 pounds. The subject of the clock is the character Trilby from a novel from Shakespearean time. This figure was part of a line produced by Ansonia 1896-1901 Trilby (1893) popular novel by George DuMaurierTrilby featured the story of a young singer hypnotized and manipulated by her trainer, an older man named Svengali. The phrase "he was a Svengali to her Trilby" is still in occasional use today; audiences in 1896 would have recognized it much more easily. Like many bestsellers of the day, Trilby had become a play in the hands of enterprising producers, and thousands of Americans saw it on the stage.Please wait for an invoice to pay correct shipping.
