Antique S Marti & Cie French Medaille de Bronze (Bronze Medal Winner 1855 Expo mark) Mantel Clock Bronze/Gold Ormolu/Gilt and Blue Floral Painted Porcelain Case. The movement is marked in a medallion MEDAILLE DE BRONZE S MARTI et CIE meaning it won the Bronze Medal at the 1855 Worlds Expo. It has the number 35 below the medallion mark, and #2592 on the right side. The pendulum is marked with the same matching number! MATCHING NUMBERS! The left top side is also marked C.J.C.C. In a square, indicating (I believe) it was imported by Charles Jacques Clock Company of New York. ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! Heavy metal with Bronze Gold coloring, porcelain hand painted flowers, stunning porcelain face and an urn style porcelain top. Beautiful beveled glass door, and ornate back door. In very Good vintage condition, has been cared for. Estate find, unknown history. The case Does have a crack in one urn arm, the left metal arm that wraps the urn. Has a few paint scuffs on the urn, and a few scuffs on the feet. Runs, however I can NOT keep it running. It will run till the pendulum loses momentum, it will chime if the pendulum is moving when the hand hits the hour. Will not chime by just moving hands.
