Gears look good i would bet it need a cleaning. This clock is not in proper operating order and will require service for optimal - The prior owner was a clocksmith for 38 years and at age 89 he was no longer able to work on them, so decided to start letting some of his personal clocks go. He did keep regular oiling and typical maintenance up as needed while he owned them until this last year.
