Large Vintage Grape Leaf Quail & Cuckoo Clock w/ GK Brass Movement
Large Vintage Grape Leaf Quail & Cuckoo Clock w/ GK Brass Movement
SOLD $600.00 Sold: Apr 11, 2024 on eBayOriginal Listing Description
This listing is for a large and rare vintage wood Quail & Cuckoo clock. I am not the original owner, but I believe it was made in Germany. It has a 30-hour movement. This clock is in very good vintage working condition, with minor surface wear that is consistent with typical use. The quail calls every quarter hour: It chirps a little fast; it chirps once at quarter after, twice at thirty minutes after, three times at quarter till, and four times on the hour, followed by the cuckoo that sounds the current hour. All the parts are present, including the removable wood top piece, the wood adjustable pendulum, and three metal weights with corresponding chains. This clock works very well. We have used it constantly for many years. The three train bellows are in good shape, too. The cast brass movement is marked G.K. I've been advised that this may stand for Gebruder Kuner (Germany) or for Geo Kuehl (Clock Co Chicago), who imported clocks from Germany. I don't know, as the clock has no other markings related to the MFR. This large clock measures about 22-1/2" tall and 16" wide (including the top cross-piece) or 17-1/2" tall and 15" wide without it. Shipping or local pickup. It will be well-packed and insured for shipping purposes. Please view all photos, as they are considered part of the description. (Condition: Pre-Owned)
