Rare Thwaites & Reed Rising Works Gravity Clock 2 Weight Working Upside-Down. THWAITES & REED RARE RISING WORKS CLOCK 2 WEIGHT UPSIDE DOWN GRAVITY WORKINGThe Rising Works Clock was privately commissioned with famed horologist Nathan David Bloch by the Franklin Mint in 1985. It was made by Thwaites and Reed, England. Wood is mahogany with the works a hand-burnished brass. This clock uses gravity in a new way, unlike traditional gravity clocks which descend from top to bottom on "teeth." The movement is balance wheel design and is wound by simply lowering the movement down the brass rod to the bottom as the weights rise. As the clock runs, the weights descend from the sides and the clock rises. Knob for setting time is on the back, has fast/slow lever. It runs well, very quiet. The movement was custom-built by world-famous clockmakers Thwaites and Reed, London. The seven-day movement has over 63 parts and has a jeweled escapement Measures 25" high, 11" wide, 7" deep. Dial diameter is 6 ¼". Very good working condition, a couple of nicks to wood finish. (Condition: Pre-Owned)
