Antique 1830s Birge, Mallory Co. Clock Working Great Mantle Clock Iron Wieghts
SOLD $400.00 Sold: Mar 10, 2024 on eBayOriginal Listing Description
Antique 1830s Birge, Mallory Co. Clock. The clock works great and I have tested for 30 hours. I would take more pictures of small details but eBay has a 24 picture limit. The clock was made from 1836 to 1843 according to riding on the back of the picture that comes with the clock. The clock uses large iron blocks on strings to run. The clock is in great condition for its age but has been repaired many times in the past. It has also been repainted and restained. The gold columns have been gold leafed and were once red which some red is peaking out from the gold. The previous owner of the clock put some backstory on the piece of paper taped to the back of the clock. The antique clock description paper has been preserved with plastic over it. The paper is fairly damaged but is legible and has a cool eagle on the top of the paper. A Cool detail about the clock there's a piece of glued paper over a word error that the original seller of the clock put over a misspelled word. The random extra stuff inside the clock comes with it. It was in there when I bought it and includes a square nail and a broken pendulum swing. The clock keys is a neat lever style key and is original to this clock. The wood on the key has been replaced. I think the bottom painting is original to the clock. The middle painting has been repainted This is backed up with the note on the back of the clock. The face of the clock is wood and the paint on the face has some crazing on it. The clock was also built with square nails so any round nails are repairs. The pendulum and iron weights will be taken out when shipped and will be shipped next to the clock. The clock has a few scratches and nicks and holes in the wood frame due to age and wear, but none are very bad. The back of the clock has the most original finish. The back also has some larger cracks in the wood especially where the nails are but can also be seen in the pictures. The main glass is a crack on the right hand side where something hit it. Glass also has several air pockets due to its age and style of how it was made. The pendulum has some scratches on the brass part. The bottom painting has some paint missing. Please use pictures provided to see the condition and wear of the clock. If you want to see something closer or more about the clock please contact. (Condition: Pre-Owned)
