eBay 1930's Art Deco Clock made by Herman Miller that was actually designed by *Gilbert Rohde*Gilbert Rohde (1894-1944) was one of the most notable figures in the early history of modern design in America. "His goal was to convert Americans to an appreciation and understanding of modernist design," as quoted by Phyllis Ross, the author of his biography published in March 2009 by the Yale University Press.Beginning in 1932, and continuing up to his death in 1944, the works of Gilbert Rohde was to reflect American Steamline Moderne design, as well as current trends in European art and design, including French moderne, the International Design style associated with the Bauhaus, and later, Surrealism. Much of his work was featured at several major fairs of the 1930s, including the Century of Progress Exposition in Chicago in 1933 and 1934, and in the Decorative Arts Pavilion at San Francisco's 1939 Golden Gate International Exposition.The clock does not work and will need to be repaired.
