eBay Antique Scottish double chain fusee wall clock, circa 1840 Antique Scottish double chain fusee wall clock, circa 1840 Click images to enlarge Description Beautiful early maker signed Scottish double chain fusee wall clock, circa 1840. The maker Wm Jaffray, 329 Argyll St., Glasgow is found in Glasgow directories of the period as having worked out of this location during the period 1840-1846. The massive brass movement with plates measuring 7" by 5" is an 8 day, double chain fusee movement that just received an extensive complete restoration including cleaning,new fusee specific time side and strike side springs, a new gear cut to match the damaged original, pivots polished, lubricated, assembled and adjusted by a certified clock maker. The movement strikes on a tuned cast iron bell. The case is veneered in rosewood and is heavily decorated with mother of pearl inlay and features a window to watch the action of the pendulum. The case retains the original finish and has attained a beautiful patina. The pendulum rod is cast brass with a scalloped decorative finish. The original dial is surrounded by a cast brass bezel with the original glass. This is a lage clock measuring 28" by 17" with a 12" dial and heavy as reflected in the shipping cost estimate. An outstanding example of Scottish clock making of the period. A beautiful clock ready for many years of enjoyment.
