1924 Chelsea TO Clock Barometer Desk Set Frank Clark Jewelers Wilkes-Barre, PA
SOLD $799.00 Sold: Sep 13, 2023 on eBayOriginal Listing Description
eBay This is a very fine quality 1924 Chelsea Time Only desk clock set in Columbus Model. It was catalog number 2877 in 4 1/2 inch face size with the black oxide "E" finish I think. The clock set has a face impressed with the Frank Clark Wilkes Barre name but is Chelsea stamped inside and with all the serial numbers matching. Serial number 155647 dates it to 1924 and is stamped on wood base and mechanism. It is about 20 plus pounds and bronze, 11 7/8' long by 7 1/4" high. It has just been cleaned and oiled but is loosing time at around 15 minutes a day. I will not send it back to be corrected by the servicer as they only get one shot at it in my book. The time adjust is all the way up so a few opposing screws need to be taken out of the balance wheel or the hairspring has to be cut back a quarter inch. This clock was $122 in 1924 which is $2181 in today's money! The Frank Clark Jewelry Store was at 63-65 S. Main St. but was recently demolished for a hotel. (Condition: Pre-Owned)
Note: This item has been sold and is no longer available. This page serves as a historical price reference for clocks collectors and appraisers.
