1880’s Seth Thomas Gallery Clock HUGE
1880’s Seth Thomas Gallery Clock HUGE
SOLD $1,200.00 Sold: Oct 16, 2023 on eBayOriginal Listing Description
This magnificent hanging wall clock by Seth Thomas was made in the 1880’s. It probably hung in a public building like a train station or Federal Building. Measures 56 x 31 x 9 inches. The double spring movement was made to operate with double power which meant the clock person would not have to wind it so often. The movement sits on a cast iron bracket and has two huge springs. Thick brass plates and what I believe to be original hands, dial (12 inch) and key. There are some issues, but you clock people will surely see that it will not take much to get this beautiful piece going again. The suspension spring is broken and needs to be replaced. It is a very large suspension spring and I think someone tried to make one. It’s there, but missing the bars where the pendulum hangs on to it. The pendulum is very heavy and the whole clock probably weighs around 100 pounds??? The walnut vase is beautiful and I have not tried to clean or polish any part of this clock. Small, insignificant scratches and nicks would be easily polished and stained out of sight. This is one you collectors should jump on right away. Found at auction near Harrisburg, Pa. Sorry, no shipping unless you do all the foot work for blanket pick up at my location. Again, I have not tried to fix or make any changes to this clock and is being sold as is, where is with no returns after it leaves the property. Please use pictures for details and condition concerns. I will try to answer all questions to the best of my amateur abilities. Thank you. (Condition: Pre-Owned)
