antique scottish tall case clock grandfather 1840 samuel law dumfries signed
SOLD $1,075.00 Sold: Jul 24, 2023 on eBayOriginal Listing Description
Nice c.1830s-1850s scottish antique clock. Movement was last serviced in the 1970s, I can get it to run for a few minutes, then it stops. It is very temperamental, so it is going to need some attention. Original pendulum and weights, pulleys are with clock, on old catgut rope. Old, if not original finish with a great patina. Nice, what looks like honduras mahogany with flame mahogany veneer on pediment. Original feet, I see no breaks. Clock has some some loose veneer, veneer loss, chips, worm holes, dings, wood chips, all typical for these clocks. Also missing the back left decrotive pillar on the bonnet that would rest against the wall. Original naive painted dial, I see no infill paint, original cast hands, original cast brass hinges. Glass has been replaced at some point. Measures about 90" high at the tallest point, and 24" at the widest point. Being sold as is, with no guarantee to working condition, for repair or display. Overall, a beautiful clock that looks great. Pick up only, or I will gladly work with your shipper. Thank you for looking. (Condition: Pre-Owned)
