German 3 train Petite Sonnerie ebonized bracket clock @ 1736 signed Augsburg
SOLD $1,027.00 Sold: Aug 27, 2023 on eBayOriginal Listing Description
Early German quarter striking ebonized bracket clock @ 1736. This clock came out of an estate recently, where it had been maintained and in regular use. Beautiful Baroque period ebonized pearwood bracket clock in good original as found condition measuring 17 3/4" tall (with the handle up) x 9 1/2" wide x 6" deep. The case is solid and good and retains its original ebonized finish with wear. The top bale handle, and the front and back door escutcheons are original, while the top brass finials look to be old replacements, and the original feet are missing. The escutcheons are loose from the doors, and need reattached. The fancy brass dial is signed for the maker who dates to 1736. It's a beautiful brass dial which is original to the movement. Great original hands. The 30 hour three train movement strikes Petite Sonnerie on the quarter hours, and strikes Grande Sonnerie on the hours. The movement is complete and intact with good mainsprings, and runs well, keeping good time with its original verge escapement, and striking correctly on its two original bells, but is sold without any warranty. Great early clock! No reserve. Please see my other auctions this week for another German or Austrian ebonized Baroque bracket clock from this same estate. UPS ground shipping in the continental USA will be $75.00 (Condition: Pre-Owned)
