CHELSEA CLOCK CO. "EMPIRE NO 1" Serial # 100237 C. 1915Up for bid is another extremely uncommon and rarely offered clock by Chelsea Clock Co. This clock is known as "Empire No. 1". Chelsea also made a wooden clock which is Empire No 2, but the No 1 is far scarcer from the research I have done. This clock weighs at least a whopping 35 lbs.!!! It is made of 100% bronze! Standing at 15 1/2 inches x 12 1/2 inches it is truly just a beast!! These clocks are so hard to find I was only able to find 1 other Empire 1 clock that had been auctioned in recent times. This is a great find for a Chelsea collector, this clock is being sold out of our personal collection, as we are downsizing for a move to Texas. This will truly be a standout in your collection as it has been in ours! The clock is equipped with Chelsea 8 Day House Strike movement that strikes the hour and half hour on a Cathedral Gong. The dial and hands are Chelsea's "Special 6-inch Silvered Dial with raised numerals and Serpentine hands which in itself is another very rare feature! The clock is in amazing original condition, with very little loss to the Chelsea Original Coloring Application. There are no detracting issues with the clock.
