Late 18th century Louis XVI Ormolu Clock, by Lamy GougeDate and Origin:French, circa 1790's Dimensions:H 14.75 in. x W 11.5 in. x D 5 in. late 18th to early 19th century French gilt bronze mantel clock, featuring the Roman goddess, Diana. Base features frieze of cherubs. Wonderful guilloche detailing on feet and decorative parts of base. Enamel dial with Roman numerals. Dial is signed "Lamy Gouge a Paris". Lamy Gouge was the "Horloger du Roi" between 1804 and 1820. The case is likely cast by Jean-Andre Reiche or Claude Galle, who were known to work with Lamy Gouge by the early 1800s Condition:Good condition overall. Presents very well. Loose quiver may not be original. I believe it to be an Empire period replacement from a different clock.The mechanism is sold "as-is". The clock was able to run, but fast. The pendulum needs to be replaced and a key will need to located.No noted condition issues to the dial. Gilt finish is rubbed at parts.
