This is a group of antique handwritten receipts and ephemera relating to clockmakers. The documents are dated between 1829-1836. These came from a firm called Philemon Humphrey Co. ( company name also given as Frisby (?) and Humphrey on some.) I couldnâ??t find anything much about Philemon Humphrey as a clockmaker, but did find a Philemon Humphrey (1805-1880) of Simsbury, Connecticut. Included there are payment receipts signed by famous clockmakers Eli Terry and Silas Terry of Terry & Son. Also there are some promissory notes from purchasers of clocks from Philemon Humphrey Co. which were a
