Steeple Clock, Bristol, ConnecticutThis beautiful steeple clock
has a mahogany case. The lower glass tablet has a stenciled border and hand
painted basket of flowers. The painted
zinc dial has some age appropriate cracking and some chipping. Its brass thirty-hour time and strike
movement with two wooden fusees mounted to brass brackets below is signed C.
Boardman, Bristol, Conn, U.S.A. and stamped with a patent date of January 1847. The clock retains its printed maker's label
marked in part “Made and Sold by C. Boardman, also by J.A. Wells”. The
