This is an Alex T Willard tall case movement and dial. It is from the time he was working at Ashby MA. Alexander Tarbell Willard was born in 1774 and started making in clocks in Ashburnham MA with his brother Philander. He moved to Ashby MA in 1801 and most likely apprenticed to Abraham Edwards a clock maker in Ashby. His clocks are hard to distinguish from an Edwards clock and all are known as Ashby style clocks today. He married his wife Tila Oaks from Ashby. It is thought that Willard's wife Tila painted his dials and also his brothers. The Willard dials were typically painted with rose b
