Fine quality early pocket chronometer fusee movement by James Bisset, 12 Sweetings Alley, Royal Exchange "watch, clock and chronometer maker," successor to John Gibson, formerly at the same address. Movement number 1220 so circa 1815-24.Helical spring balance wheel with jeweled detent.Nicely engraved fullplate fusee movement and gilded dial in good condition with inset seconds sub dial. 50 mm diameter, 14 mm deep, not including centre arbor.My late father an antiquarian horologist, dismantled the Bissett to diagnose having found broken mainspring.
