Vintage and Rare Nuremberg Church of Our Lady, West German Musical Trumpeter Clock made by E. Schmeckenbecher circa 1965-1970. This clock is in excellent running order having just been serviced. It plays the Westminster tune on the hour after striking the correct bell sequence. The trumpeters raise and lower their horns to correspond with the music. I will attempt to attach a video to this listing so you can see/hear it work. It has one missing original weight. It has been replaced by an cast iron cuckoo weight that is the correct actual weight. This is a one day clock. It tells time accurately and chimes at the half hour. It chimes, plays music and moves every hour. The two arms are present with the trumpets, and the King is holding his scepter. It is a handcrafted replica of the famous and magnificent Nuremberg, Germany "Church of our Lady" Clock. The Emperor Karl IV had the church built between 1352 - 1362.Repair has been done to the arm of one of the trumpeteers, this one will not raise the trumpet as high.The clock is 15" tall and 11.5" wide. It is a handcrafted replica of the famous and magnificent Nuremberg, Germany "Church of our Lady" Clock. The Emperor Karl IV had the church built between 1352 - 1362. The Mechanical and Musical Clock was added in 1506 and still operates today. From wikipedia: " One of the most notable features of the church is the Männleinlaufen a mechanical clock that commemorates the Golden Bull of 1356 . The clock was installed in the church in 1506. The Holy Roman Emperor is shown seated with the prince-electors surrounding him. The clock mechanism is activated at midday, a bell is rung to start the sequence followed by the trumpeters and drummer. Then there is a procession of the electors around the figure of the Holy Roman Emperor."Like the original Clock on the Church, this wall clock sounds off One Bell Ring on the Half Hour and Rings the number of times for each Hour of the Day (for example, at 3:00, the bell rings 3 times, 10:00 = ten times and so forth). The only thing missing is the top section of styro-foam packing material. This clock has bright, vivid colors just like the day it came out of the factory as they have never seen daylight to get faded out by the u.v. light or bleached by the sun. This clock most likely will need service because it has sat 64yrs in the box and I am positive the original oils and greases have dried up long ago. Since it has never ran, you might even be able to just add oil to the pivots and places that need oiling however, if you plan to run it often, I highly suggest having it serviced. I am selling this as a non-running clock for restoration because I did not and will not test it. It has never been run and I want to pass that honor on to the next buyer who plans on keeping it. The gem of this clock is the fact its case is amazing and brightly colored, you will never find another one like it with the graphics they way they are on this clock. It has a hand carved wooden deer head, rabbit and grouse. It has the original standard 8 day Regula movement that has been cleaned and serviced with new bellows tops added. It runs and cuckoos properly. As mentioned, this is a large clock, measuring 24" from the antler tips to the bottom of the case, NOT counting the huge weights or pendulum, and 14" across the top piece. I took it out and hung it up strictly for pictures but it is brilliant and bright in every way with nowhere no tear never been used it is basically still a brand new clock see the pictures, I tested the music box is loud and Chris and there is good action with the pitchfork and the man crawling up the ladder a great collectible clock in brand new condition, still in its original box that was delivered by UPS September
eBay Fantastic E. Schmeckenbecher Nuremberg cathedral clock. Sold as-is, for rebuild. Case is in very good condition! Very hard to find with both trumpeter's arms and horns!! Movement will need to be rebuilt for it to run correctly. The beaded string will also need to be repaired, if possible. I've read that you can replace it with O-ring material, and it will function just fine. Original pendulum included, just don't have the original weights. A set of the equivalent 275g weights are included. With a little work this will be a great clock!! (Condition: Parts Only)
