Elmer O Stennes Girandole Banjo PRISON Clock M.C.I.P. - RARE
eBay Another spectacular clock from my dear friend who purchased it himself at an NAWCC show in 1970. This clock has been mounted on his wall since he bought it and is in excellent condition cosmetically and mechanically. I gave it a wind a few hours ago and it is keeping time. As you can see, the case and everything about it is absolutely beautiful with no blemishes at all to report. As most of you know who are looking at this clock, the guy who made it , actually made it in prison after being convicted for murdering his wife and ironically, was later murdered himself. Elmer Sennes did mark the clock with the letters M.C.I.P. (Massachusetts Correctional Institution Plymouth), which he did so on all the clocks he made in prison. Clock measures 44.5" tall. You will need to take care of the shipping however I will gladly drop it off at the local UPS or other for you to save you on the pickup fees. (Condition: Pre-Owned)

FANTASTIC CLOCK signed ELMER STENNES BANJO CLOCK, EXPERIMENTAL #1, M.C.I.P 14
This is one of the finest signed Elmer Stennes banjo clocks you will find anywhere. On the rim where you open the bottom door it is stamped M.C.I.P. which stands for Massachusetts Correctional Institute & Penitentiary and it is also stamped #14 on the rim. On the glass tablet of the front door it says Experimental No.1 so im not positive but this most likely is the first banjo clock Stennes made in jail while serving his prison sentence . The brass movement is marked E.Stennes No.5, the lead clock weight is also stamped Stennes. The case is an extremely clean original finish inlaid

Signed on dial. Marked with the number 49 inside, George Washington reverse-painted on the glass throat and Mount Vernon reverse-painted on the glass door. He was self-taught as a cabinetmaker, and received a certificate for completing a one-year course in Carpentry and Architectural Drawing, from Wentworth Institute in Boston in 1934.

RARE Elmer O' Stennes Girandole Banjo Clock Reverse Painted Aurora Goddess Dawn
Description: This is for a RARE Elmer O' Stennes Girandole Banjo Clock, He made Fine Reproduction CLocks in from the 50 thru 70's I Believe. It has a wonderful Reverse Painted glass of Aurora Goddess of Dawn.. I bought this clock from Sony Studios who are in the process of downsizing their set decorations inventory. I bought this with some other various clocks. Still has the small Sony Sticker on back. I am not a clock dealer but I love clocks and never seen this one before. I found out the history of it is quite interesting. Apparently, this Emler Fellow who made reproductions clocks of Period clocks had shot and killed his wife and the story goes from there. you should google his name because it is quite interesting. Anyway.. It is 44" long and is missing the Eagle Finial and also a tiny "Clip" that holds the top glass face in securely. I will take out the glass top and bottom when I ship it to assure safety. I took the face off and inside has a mechanism that reads :"Kilbourn & Proctor which I found out He Used in his clocks from time to time. I did not see the weight for it so assume it is missing too.. Also, under the Pendulum there is a metal Plate which I took off and see a Name etched into the wood, looks like a "a.Tella R.I." I am not sure who he is but could be who the clock was made for. I have not tested the clock so selling as is . but everything looks pretty good. I see a couple of the "Nails" on the adornments are sticking out so will need to be addressed but not a big deal. Please Look Closely and Bid Accordingly as there will be no returns on this item,working or not. . I use USPS & Fed-Ex mostly and try to save You on shipping when I can. After an argument with his second wife, Eva, Elmer shot her in the head with his pistol in the kitchen of their home. Stennes called the Weymouth police and told them what he had done. He was arrested in his home and later released on $25,000 bond. While free on bond, Stennes continued to make clocks. He signed the clocks made during this period with the initials "O.O.B." This was to signify that the clock was made while he was out on bond. During his trial, Stennes pleaded not guilty to murder but admitted guilt to manslaughter. He was sentenced to eight to ten years in prison for this crime. This was to be served at the Massachusetts Correctional Institute at Plymouth (M.C.I.P.) He was incarcerated at M.C.I.P. in October of 1969. Stennes was well-connected politically. Soon, he was put in charge of the woodworking shop. The clocks made during this period were marked M.C. I. P. In less than four years, Stennes was paroled on January 12, 1973. In December of that year, he married Phyllis Means on the 15th. Almost two years later, on October 4, 1975, the couple was shot multiple times while they were sleeping in their bedroom. Two men broke into their house. Elmer was shot five times and killed. Phyllis was shot seven times and survived by rolling off the bed and playing dead on the floor. Phyllis later accused her 24-year-old stepson Elliot of being one of the shooters. She had retold the story to people I knew that she recognized his voice when he said, "This is for my mom." While in court, Elliot had five witnesses testify that they were together in a bar in Franconia, New Hampshire, at the time of the shooting. As a result, the charges against him were dropped. Mr. Stennes typical "bee" trademark is located in the chapter ring to the left of the number 6. Nice heavy hands. Heavy brass bezel functions as it should and has a convex glass. Original pendulum lock is still intact for transporting.
