Chelsea 8 1/2" Special Dial Commander Ships Bell Clock aka Mahogany and Metal. Serial number 70816 on the movement, case and wood base dates the clock to 1911. The dial is signed S. Nordlinger & Sons, Los Angeles. Between the winding arbors the dial reads Chelsea Clock Co., Boston USA. The case has been polished and lacquered. Unique Chelsea Ships Bell for Theodore Starr N.Y. Heavy Bronze Clock CRUSTACEANS
This is a unique, possible one of a kind Chelsea. The silver metal dial measures 6 inches in diameter and is marked "THEODORE B. STARR, INC, NEW YORK" and "ships bell". The case is bronze, and measures 29" x 13" x 6". It is very heavy (40 or 50 pounds I would guess), and has no dents. It has applied to the front a small crab, a large crab, and a large shell. These are all patinated bronze. The movement is complete. I used to use this clock years ago, but it started to stop and stick. So you will need to have it cleaned or serviced for it to be reliable. The movement serial number is 98932 (Circa 1915-1916). The bottom wood panel under the clock is mahogany! Really beautiful. Buyer pays shipping, $85 in USA. No foreign shipping! Chelsea Ships Bell House Chime Clock Ship's
This listing is for a very rare "house chime" Chelsea Bell clo ck. That is, it chimes 1 to 12 times at the top of the hour for each hour and once at the bottom of the hour for every 1/2 hour. The winding sequence lasts for about 8 days. It is the only Chelsea Bell Clock that I have seen. Almost all others are Ships Bell with the Maritime watch sequence.The high gloss lacquered brass finish is in good condition while the face dial has a couple of small marks (see photos).The stamped wooden base is hard to read but matches the movement number of 135818 which, according to Chelsea, dates the clock to about 1915. The clock also has the preferred serpentine hands, raised numbers, hinged bezel and solid brass Commodores base. It runs well and keeps good time. A winding key is included. (Condition: Pre-Owned)

Chelsea Clock Co. Centennial Commemorative Edition 1897-1997 WORKING! Ships Bell
Selling this for my parents - it sat on the mantle of their living room for about 10 years at which point they sent it into Chelsea for a 'tune up' and when it was returned they kept it in its original box having never put it back out for display so it's remained in the box in storage for over 15 years!Ships bell strike! 8 tones at 12:00 1 tone at 12:30 and an additional tone strike every half hour until it hits 8 again at 4:00, rinse and repeat!I have uploaded a video so you can see that the clock is in working order via both the movement of the escapement mechanism as well as the progression of of the minute hand over the course of the 90 second video. As expected you hear 8 tones at 12:00. I can also email you a video (eBay only allows 1 video upload per listing!) where you can see/hear the single tone at 12:30, also as expected. the outside diameter of the brass ring is 7 1/8" - the inside diameter (visible glass between the brass ring) is 5 3/8" and the inside ridge (silver part) of the clock face (with the 'door' open) is 5 5 8 The following two blurbs I have cut-and-pasted from actual auction houses selling other units from the same limited edition run so they are not my words and please consider accordingly :1. "Special Grand" silvered dial with pierced center to view the escapement, raised Arabic numerals and strike-silent, eight-day time and ship's bell strike movement with damascened plates and platform escapement all on a mahogany base with ball feet, ht. 9 1/4 in.2. Chelsea Centennial Limited Edition Desk Clock. 6 in. silvered dial has applied brass Arabic numbers on the chapter ring, fancy filigree pierced gilt brass center and fancy black pierced hands. Quality brass spring driven movement has ships bell strike on a coiled gong, in good working condition, signed Chelsea Clock Co. Centennial Edition 1897-1997, No. 0346. Weight: 11.75 lbs I was unable to find anywhere online how many of this limited edition clock were made but my assumption is that if you are looking at / interested in this item you are a general clock or Chelsea collector or enthusiast and know far more than we know about this particular piece! UPDATE : A kind gentleman who collects Chelsea clocks let me know that this piece is from a limited run of 3000.Key is included as is a fold over card indicating the chime or tuning. There is an X marked next to 'Island Melody' - this card means nothing to me so referring to the previous paragraph, I'm assuming that you know exactly how to read it. I'm learning that the card may not have anything to do with this piece but Dad had it by where the Chelsea was stored so he grabbed it. The chime is as described at the top of this description : Ship's Bell Strike Packaging - all of the original foam and inserts are there. As you can see the clock is well very well protected in the collector box and I will package that inside another box with plenty of air to keep the movement to a minimum whilst in transit.Felt - over time the glue that attaches the very thin layer of blue felt has entirely broken down so the felt is now simply 'loose laid' on top of the main foam section surrounding the clock. There may be a few small tears in the felt as well, but nothing that you'd notice when carefully laid out as I have it now (see photos). This is likely the case with the felt on all units from this limited run but rather than throw the felt away I have still included it.Shipping rates include full insurance and as provided are for the contiguous United States.
