 Aurora KIRSCH - HAMILTON ASSOCThis fascinating clock changes color completely every 15 seconds. First produced in 1970 it is in the MOMA collection.The Aurora was based on Jordan Kirsch (of Kirsch Hamilton) s patent for a clock that used birefractive lenses. They hired the design firm Corchia and de Harak in the early 1970s to design the iconic clock, which soon found its way into mod homes everywhere and the permanent collection of the MoMA. The result was a clock called SPECTRUM, later re-named and re-designed as the AURORA. It's a truly beautiful and ingenious use of the technology.The outer case of aluminium was designed by Corniche de Harak This older model functions and retains its original Kirsch/Hamilton label.  Presenting an Original mid-century modern Aroura Clock designed by Kirsch Hamilton It was repaired at some point in its life by Chronograph in California as shown on tag on bottom. Outdated electronics were retrofitted. This should further validate originality along with serial number. All documentation and markings are correct. There is a dime sized dent which is circled in red. There are also a few light scratches that could be buffed out if desired through high speed buffing. I made no attempt to change anything. It does keep time. Cord is newer. Incredible piece of art which can also be viewed at the Museum of Modern Art. You can also find vintage reproductions from Japan (& USA) of this on this site from time to time. The polished aluminum metal is thinner on them. This was made much earlier in the 1970’s. I think pictures do enough to validate current functionality. If you are not familiar with this clock, the second hand is the circle that moves along the perimeter. It slowly changes psychedelic colors. The pictures show color changing over a 2 minute period. Ships fast and will require signature for delivery. Thanks for looking! (Condition: Pre-Owned)

 This stunning example of a mid century modern clock was patented in 1970. Originally called Spectrum, it is in the permanent collection of New York City's Museum of Modern Art. This clock is in good working condition. I recently replaced the No. 93 light bulb (yes, they are still manufactured), and the additional 9 new bulbs are included with the purchase. This clock has some very minor scuffing scratches as expected for an item of this age. The white electrical cord is an astonishing 104" inches in length, and us in good condition.  This is an all original aurora clock. It keeps perfect time. The chrome cabinet is almost perfect with only minor scuffs that you have to look hard for. It has its original back and bottom with tag. Really hard to take pics. of these! If you want a good working untouched original this is it. Colors change nicely and look different from what ever angle you look. Does not have all the crackle lines you often see on originals. This one uses fluorescent bulbs. A better one would be hard to come by.

The case of the clock is in almost perfect condition. The case is in excellent condition with only a few minor scratches.. Looks to have been stored away and hardly used.
