Great and rare 1912 Stickley oak mantel clock. Previously owned by Barbara Streisand and purchased through Christies in 1999. Please see all paperwork for provenance. A few old and professional repairs as seen on pictures 9 and 12. It appears to be in working condition. I do not have the key. eBay This Herschede Model 250 Grandfather Clock is an antique piece from late 20th century (1970-1999) made of Spanish Olive Ash material and finished with Ash. It has a traditional style with a wood frame, standing at 87 inches in height, 25 inches in width, and 15.25 inches in length. The clock is powered by a mechanical 8-day movement and has an analog display with Arabic Numerals.The clock features a Winchester chime sequence and is signed by the clock maker with an engraved signature. It is also signed by the brand Herschede and has the model number 250. The nine tubular bell movement, made entirely by Herschede, plays 3 chime tunes. Westminster (an exact duplication of the Westminster Abbey chimes), Whittington, and the exclusive to Herschede Canterbury Chimes .The 14-karat gold-plated dial was hand-engraved and even the rivets that affix the dial to the faceplate were silver-plated. According to Herschede, no shortcuts were taken in the manufacture of this clockThe case consists of rare burled veneers of Spanish Olive Ash or Acacia were cut and matched by hand one at a time, then burnished and hand-polished to enhance beauty. A specially compounded and applied finish creates the appearance of a 200+ year-old antique According to Herschede, 108 feet of antique strip brass was carefully applied and meticulously hand-mitered around the entire case to enhance the case's beauty. Thick beveled plate glass panels were inset into the front door and side panels permitting one to see the brass weights and nickel cadmium/chrome chime tubes inside. Even the inside of the cabinet is completely finished. Herschede lovers believe this may possibly the finest timepiece ever made; well, certainly it was a “blaze of glory” accomplishment for the firm.The moon dial was painted by hand and features two moons and two seascapes. One seascape is a three-mast schooner passing a lighthouse point. The second seascape is a cabin scene at the ocean's edge. As the moon rotates on the date dial it moves in small daily increments rotating the two seascape scenes following the moon's phases.There are two dial-mounted controls, one on each upper corner of the clock face. The left controls selects which one of the three available chime tunes to be played. The right control allows you to silence the chimes. There is an additional lever on the left side of the face that allows you to turn off the hour strike. From the estate of a long time clock shop owners personal collection. Excellent working condition, however I’m sure it will need to be adjusted after shipment. I could find no issues with the finish at all, it looks as if it just came out of the box, I dusted and cleaned the exterior glass. I did not polish. The glass is perfect, no chips or issues. Has a very small AT&T emblem at the bottom, about ½ inch wide. I will do my own packing, moreover I have been selling clocks on ebay since 1999. Art Deco Zenith Marble Desk Clock Switzerland, ca. 1920’s Zenith SA is a Swiss luxury watchmaker. The company established in Le Locle, in the canton of Neushatel, in 1865; by Georges Favre-Jacot, who was 22 at the time. Zenith was purchased by LVMH in November 1999, becoming one of several brands in its watch and jewelry division, which includes also TAG Heuer and Hublot. Zenith is one of the Swiss watch manufacturers that still produce their own movements in-house. George Favre-Jacot (1843 – 1917) was an apprentice within the watchmaking industry while still a youth. Later in life, Favre-Jacot had commissioned famous architect Le Corbusier to build a house for himself in Le Locle. He was also closely involved with another prominent architect of the era, Alfonse Laverriere, the relationship with whom was the source of influence upon the Werkbund movement. The two men collaborated with a shared artistic vision of the nature of production, to the extent to which they themselves somewhat reformed the artistic situation within francophone Switzerland at the time.
