Important Multi Complication Chronometer Carriage Clock w Perpetual Calendar ...
eBay I have the privilege of offering this rare clock today for a dear friend who is in his 90s and has been slowly liquidating his collection through me over the past several years. This clock was purchased by him directly from Sinclair Harding in the 1980s. Clock measures 13 1/2" high, 17" with handle up, 8 1/4" wide, 7" side. As far as we know it is one of the most complicated clocks Harding has made and the only one to have ever been offered for resale until now. The condition is excellent! The clock has been very well taken care of though it has never been serviced because he was afraid to have someone take it apart. (Please keep in mind that this clock needs to be serviced) The Movement is running and has kept time since I set it about 15 hours ago. Repeater works but is sluggish though it's getting better each time I push it, same with the striking. I don't believe the clock has been wound in a couple years. The entire face of the clock measuring 10" x 6.5" is solid sterling silver with Birmingham hallmarks for 1983. I am not an expert though I will describe what I know so far about the complications. It is a striking and hour repeater, phases and age of the moon, zodiac sign display wheel, 2 wind indicators, perpetual calendar, day, date and month and a seconds indicator on the top near the balance. The movement is a high grade pivoted detent chronometer. The 2-tone full dial plate is solid sterling silver. Not sure exactly what wood was used though it is very dark and exotic with gilt brass mounts and inlays. If you are a clock maker, you can probably say quite a bit more about this clock as I'm sure I'm missing something. (Condition: Pre-Owned)

It is a beloved companion that radiates warmth and charm throughout your home.Herschede, Gold Medal Winning Clocks Since 1885, Sheffield Model No 230, Starkvile Mississippi. Purely American Made.Franklin "Frank" Herschede was born on July 30, 1857 in Cincinnati, Ohio.In 1873, at the age of 16, he began working as an apprentice watch and clock repairman for Charles Cook.In 1877, he went into business for himself and moved to Vine and 5th Street in Cincinnati. He diversified into jewelry, watches, diamonds, etc., and in 1885, the store moved to larger quarters at the corner of Arcade and Vine.In 1885, noting the success of Walter H. Durfee, Herschede began importing movements and having cases made in a nearby cabinet shop on Front Street in Cincinnati, Ohio. Frank’s clock business expanded to the point that he purchased the cabinet shop in 1900.In 1901, Frank exhibited in the South Carolina and West Indian Exposition at Charleston, South Carolina, where he received a gold medal for his hall clocks. This was the first of several medals earned by the firm.Frank's son, Walter, graduated from high school in 1902, and began work in the cabinet shop. On December 29, 1902 the Herschede Hall Clock Company was incorporated. In that same year, Herschede began to produce his own tubes and install them in his clocks. In 1903 the Herschede Hall Clock Company factory moved from Front Street to 1011-1015 Plum Street. In 1904 the Herschede Hall Clock Company won several medals in the Louisiana Purchase Exposition in St. Louis in 1904: a gold medal for the best hall clock, a gold medal for the best hall clock cases, and a silver medal for tubular chimes. In 1909, the Herschede Hall Clock Company leased the building next door at 1007-1009 Plum Street to manufacture clock movements. The first movement passed final inspection on January 10, 1911. In 1913, a third melody, “Canterbury Chimes” was added to the Whittington and Westminster chimes. The tune was composed by Charles Eisen, "a gifted American pianist," especially for Herschede. (If you have a Herschede clock with this tune and are a musician, we'd appreciate having the tune so we can add it to our clock chime tunes page in this reference library... contact us and let's talk about how to make this happen... thanks in advance. We'd also like to have a digital recording of this tune.)At the Panama-Pacific International Exposition the firm won two additional major awards: grand prize was presented to the Herschede Hall Clock Company for chime hall clocks and mantel clocks, and a gold medal was awarded for the hall clock cabinets manufactured by the company.By the early 1920's the Herschede Hall Clock Company had opened branch sales offices in New York City, then in Chicago and San Francisco. Frank Herschede died on September 15, 1922, and Walter was named president in January of 1923.In 1925, Walter began to work with Mr. Warren to develop electric movement chime clocks. By April of 1926, the Revere Clock Company came into being.By 1927 the Herschede Hall Clock Company had added a pair of smaller lines of clocks, including a clock (about 6’ in height) and a “petite” clock (generally under 7’ in height). These were produced in the same styles as the larger hall clocks.By 1929 the Herschede Hall Clock Company had some 300 employees, but the Great Depression caused a significant reduction in demand for hall clocks (and just about everything else except jobs)!By 1933 the Herschede Hall Clock Company changed its primary focus on the lower end, introducing an inexpensive line of electric clocks called “Crown Clocks”.On February 4, 1934, Walter's son, Richard Herschede, began working fulltime with his father. The Herschede Hall Clock Company ceased clockmaking during WWII, focusing its manufacturing expertise on observational instruments and optical components for the military. Subsequent to the war, clockmaking resumed, but never regained its pre-war momentum. Eventually, the firm branched out into, of all things, the manufacture of parking meters! In 1952 the Herschede Hall Clock Company began using imported Junghans movements in its non-tubular bell clocks. Then, in 1959, in the midst of extreme economic difficulties, the North Mississippi Industrial Development Association lured the Herschede Hall Clock Company to move its plant to Starkville, Mississippi, with the new factory opening in May of 1960.In 1973, the Herschede Hall Clock Company merged with Howard Furniture and Briarwood Lamps to become Arnold Industries, Inc.On September 23, 1983, Herschede announced a plan to restructure the Herschede Hall Clock division from a manufacturer of the finished clocks to a supplier of quality tubular bell movements to the industry. The firm briefly resumed production of clocks in 1989, making approximately 20 clocks between that year and 1992 under the ownership of Howard W. Klein and Robert Eggering of St. Louis, MO. The firm was then sold to R&M Imports of Waynesville, OH, which manufacturers replacement parts for existing Herschede clocks CONDITIONGood antique condition, wear and distressing commensurate with age and use, light scuffing / marking, working DIMENSIONS24 x 18.5" d x 86" hPAYMENTThe sooner you pay, the sooner you get your item. The Designers Consignment insists on receiving payment within 3 days of your winning bid or Purchase, otherwise we reserve the right to make a second chance offer to the second place bidder or re-list the item. Please let us know if you have any additional questions SHIPPING & HANDLINGWe are currently unable to ship to international US locations. O-Scale Brass D&RGW K-36 Narrow-Gauge Locomotive
eBay Brass O-Scale Denver & Rio Grande Western K-36 No. 484 (2-8-2) Narrow-gauge Locomotive – This is an exceptional example of the model builder’s skills thirty years ago when things were really carefully made; from Samhongsa in Korea and imported by the legendary Precision Scale Co., Crown Series. A beautifully crafted scale model of the renowned D&RGW narrow gauge ‘Mikado’ type locomotive that continues to inspire railroad enthusiasts everywhere – restored in 1983 and still in use running excursion trips on the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad in portions of the Colorado/New Mexico area today. “K” designates Mikado-type and “36” denotes 36K pounds of tractive effort. This exacting reproduction model is in On3 gauge, #16219 and is in new condition throughout. No. 484 was originally built in 1925 by Baldwin Locomotive Works and weighted-in at 286k pounds, fully loaded, with tender capacity of 9.5 tons of coal and 5,000 gals of water and with a tractive power of 36,200 pounds. The most revenue came in hauling ore including coal, freight, some livestock and, of course, lumber. The railroad development in the Rockies was advanced through the vision of General William Jackson Palmer (who was a calvary officer in the Civil War and was advanced to Brigadier General by age 20) who not only created the D&RGW railroad, incorporated in October, 1870, but also the city of Colorado Springs. As an accomplished railroad construction engineer, he surveyed, designed the routes and supervised construction of his railroad. The three-foot gauge was selected due to costs, availability of materials, reduction in physical construction requirements and the formidable terrain being traversed through the mountains, across rivers and ravines. The narrow gauge allowed for smaller roadbeds, lighter track, tighter turning radiuses and faster construction – all very necessary to developing a much-needed revenue stream quickly. This reproduction is faithful to the original engine in every way and displays exquisite detailing throughout. A truly beautiful locomotive to see and unusual with the exterior mounted frame placing the drivers inside the frame with counter weights for the drivers and with connecting rods including main, primary and secondary rods, reversing gear on the outside of the steel frame plus automatic lubricator rods, air compressor, air lines and valves, compressed air tanks, steam lines and fittings – all presented in great detail and beautifully visible thanks to the superb painting, weathering and detailing of this unique model. Notice the fading of the paint, steam and water marks, grease, dirt and grime – all wonderfully painted on this exceptional model. The interior of the cab is fully detailed and painted showing all boiler backhead valves, lines, levers, seats with arm rests and apron on full display. All rivets, boiler sheeting and hold-down straps, sand and steam domes (with pressure release valves) and distribution lines, steam whistle and bell including pull cords and steam generator clearly exhibited along, with lights, marker boards, number boards, builder’s plate, toolboxes, handrails, steps and ladders – all finished beautifully that brings out every detail of this wonderful locomotive reproduction. The tender is equally well detailed including swing chains for each truck frame, re-railers air and steam lines, water connection from tender to injectors, coal bunker (filled with coal) and with inspection access doors from cab apron plus water bunker with water-fill pipe with lid and hold-downs, brakeman’s shanty and related electrical lines on full display. Offered along with this unique model are two hardcover books: “Rio Grande Narrow Gauge” and ‘Rio Grande Narrow Gauge both by author John B. Norwood; published by Heimburger House Publishing in 1983 and 1986; both first editions, complete with book jacket covers. I am a collector - not a dealer - and this amazing, one-of-a-kind model, which we purchased new, has been in our collection since 1992 and has been painted, weathered and detailed by an acclaimed model train artist high in demand – a new art-form really. His work is in such demand that the average wait time between his accepting the model for painting and completion is from 1-3 years. It was brought home, kept in it’s factory box until put on display about four years ago (never run) and is now being offered for sale so that we might expand our collection into other areas of brass locomotive types – mainly different railway equipment from narrow gauge locomotives. This exceptional reproduction deserves to be placed in a glass case and admired. Please review all details and photos carefully as no returns are possible - please ask any questions necessary to resolve any doubts or concerns that you may have regarding this rare, beautifully detailed and weathered D&RGW narrow gauge K-36 locomotive. This fine model will be shipped in its original box with original packing materials including the snow-plow attachment shipped originally with this beautiful model, double boxed, at buyer's expense – we recommend shipping via UPS or USPS Priority Mail insured. (Condition: Brand New)

1970s Aurora Clock Vintage Kirsch - Hamilton Jet Age Design MCM w/ Original Box
The Aurora clock sets the vibe for any room its in.Clock came from original owner who purchased it in 1983. It includes the clock, box, manual, receipt, business card, and other papers the owner kept with it. The condition of the clock is overall good. Has been tested and is working as it should. It could use a polish. The foam material in the box is disintegrating, which is why foam is in plastic bag. The dial on the back to set the time is tough to move. I was able to set the time though, it just took some time to spin the dial.Review all the photos to get a clear look at condition. (Condition: Pre-Owned)
