18th Century Bracket Clock, Joseph Jennings London

Sold on eBay August 30th, 2024

18th Century Bracket Clock, Joseph Jennings London

The inverted bell top surmounted by a carrying handle, enclosed by a glazed panel door, flanked by glazed sides, on brass ogee bracket feet, the arched brass dial with Roman hours and Arabic minutes with strike/silent dial above, having mock pendulum and date aperture to the matte center within cast spandrels, the twin train fusee movement with verge escapement and pull repeat mechanism striking on a bell and having a well engraved backplate. There is some writing on the bottom of the clock. It looks like someone sold the clock in 1803. There are 2 names and writing I can't decipher. There is a picture. The case looks to be walnut with satin wood inlay. The glasses look to be original. There are chips to the veneer and a crack on one side, not bad for a clock around 250 years old. The movement is heavy and well made with crown wheel escapement. The clock is 21" tall x 12" wide x 7" deep. Shipping isn't a problem. I cannot guarantee a clock will run after shipping. (Condition: Pre-Owned)
